On the aluminum cap atop the Washington Monument in Washington, DC are two words: Laus Deo. No one can see these words. In fact, most visitors to the monument have no idea they are even there and probably couldn't care less! When the cornerstone of the Washington Monument was laid on July 4th, 1848 deposited within it were many items including the Holy Bible presented by the Bible Society. Do You know what Laus Deo means? I looked it up and it means "Praise be to God". One detail that is never mentioned, is that in Washington, D.C. There can never be a building of greater height than the Washington Monument. This was sent to me by a friend and it is a Lesson in History.

That is really neat. I bet there are not a lot of people who know this. I certainly did not. That is a beautiful photo of it all lit up at night.

Interesting, I didn't know that. So what about the religions of the Native Americans who were here long before the Europeans, were their religions also honored?

The reason I ask is because of the era @Marcyaz few people of white origin tolerated those of color and few tolerated anyone who wasn't Christian.

I read that a long time ago and I think it's wonderful. I think there are also a number of monuments in Washington D.C. that have scripture on them.

I love that our forefathers thought so much of God. Too bad our politicians today can't understand that.
