Happy Mother's Day tomorrow. I hope that all you moms out there have a nice day tomorrow. I know you all have great families and it will be fun to hear how each of you spent your special day. I have received several gifts from my daughter last month. Now this month she brought in a huge bouquet of flowers. I am enjoying the scent in my room. This morning I woke up to this huge card. It was pretty and they both signed it. How nice of them! I was thinking of some of the moms I have known down through the years. Some who were good and some who weren't so good. Here's afew I had thought about today: When I was in junior high school I hung out with this gal named Brenda. Her mother was an alcoholic and was never in a good mood. I would help Brenda with the chores and stayed there alot. Her mother was rarely there. I guess that was one reason I liked hanging out there. She and I lost track when she quick school and got marries. I tried to locate her once. I talked to her husband and he was going to have her call but she never did. She was an odd person and had had a hard life. I often wonder what became of her. Then there was Dorothy, my BFF's mom. She was a dear. She always let us turn our silly music up(50's music) and parade around in our baby doll pajamas. She died of cancer in the mid 90's. So sad. She was a dear woman and her daughter, my BFF, morns her to this day. It is very hard for her. Anti Arvilla was a next door neighbor to my grandmother. I would always go over and visit. She was very nice. Always had something fun for us kids to do. She even visited me when I moved to Pocatello, bought me some goodies to decorate my room and even bought me some clothes for school. Very nice anti. The last time I saw her she seems to have the beginnings of Alzheimer's and didn't even remember who I was. My great grandmother was 96 when she died. She was blind yet still stitching quilt pieces together. I lived at my grandparent's place when I was young. My grandmother watched me while mom worked at the restaurant as a waitress. My great grandmother was bed ridden. I was about seven and it was my duty to sit with her while my grandmother worked out in the yard. I would read to her or we would talk. Mom and grandma are last but not least. My grandmother was a strict Baptist and she raised me with a switch. If I took off she always knew where to find me. She would switch me with a willow all the way home. She was a good woman. Taught me about the flag and made sure I knew my address and such. I followed through and did the same with all my kids. She was a wonderful cook. Everything from scratch. Sunday dinners at Granma's. Very memorable. My mom was a good mother. She wasn't really affectionate or hands on but she was always there for me. She had left my dad when I was only about six months old and so she was a single mom. She always got help from my dad if she needed it but was usually too proud to ask. This was in the 50's, before child support. Didn't seem to need that legal side of it back then. She was good to me and just always wanted to know when I arrived places and wanted me home pretty early. I have lots of memories of her. How about you? Good memories of mother, grandmother, or other woman who met something in your life?

@celticeagle I don't know, because I did it in the form of a challenge, but only one person posted anything about the woman in his life - his mother.

I remember the neighbor lady whose children I played with she was a very nice person who always had something for us kids to do and she was a fun type person, Her name was Grace. Then I had a friend whose mother hung out at bars and never had time for her but she had an older married sister where we used to go at visit and her sister was so nice to let us hang out at her house. My grandmother always had a cherry pie ready for anyone who came by and she sure knew how to make a pie. It was something we always looked forward to. My mother loved to bake cakes and our table always had a cake on it, we never had large slices of cake and that is why it lasted us all week. I miss her.

Some great memories. Sounds like yours were similar to mine. Some good cooks in the family and nice neighbors and friends.

My mother was, and still is a great mother. I hope that I am. I have to work tomorrow, so there will be no stories from me on here about Mother's Day.

My Mom wasn't a good Mom. I wrote a post about it the other day. However, both of my grand mom's had a deep impact on my life. Both were godly women who lived out their faith before me. Unfortunately I could only see my one grand mom once in awhile as she lived in California and we lived in Pennsylvania. The other one lived only a few minutes away from us growing up. My Aunt Barb has been in my life since I was 5 or 6. At first I was a bit jealous because she was taking my Uncle John away from my brother and I. He is 10 years older than me (8 years older than my brother) so he has always been more an older brother than uncle to us. But she is an easy person to love, very loving and caring. The jealousy didn't last long. Some of my friend's Mom's helped me while growing up, making sure we were ok. I'll never forget their kindness shown. I don't know if they knew how we were living but they always were there to encourage us or give us a ride somewhere if we needed one. I'm blessed that these women stepped up and cared about me and my brother.

Thanks for sharing these memories. My mother is not only a great parent, but also a good teacher. She homeschooled me for seven years. We're still close now. My grandmother has always been a rock in my life. Plus, she's pretty cool. She plays the piano--even now at 86. Sometimes I sing and she accompanies me. I'll always treasure that, when I'm older. Happy Mother's Day.
