Mother's Day lunch

Oxford Mill is in a small town in Sumner County, Kansas. It has a population of just over 1,000 people. There is a Dining Room with Gift Shop in the old flour mill. It is open on Sunday year round. Besides the fact that this once was a working flour mill, the other interesting fact about this eating place is that it is run by a high school business class. They plan a menu for one month at a time. If you choose to eat there you will have whatever is scheduled for that Sunday. Of course sometimes there are changes that are made. You can choose your beverage and the salad dressing on your salad, but the rest of the meal is whatever they have scheduled. Today we had a barbecued chicken breast sauced lightly with a home made barbecue sauce. There was a dinner salad, a home made roll, green beans with bacon and the best cheesy potato casserole I have ever had. We had coffee. Dessert was apple pie. Originally we were to have baked beans and potato salad, I am not sure why they changed it, but I liked the meal we had better. I hope you had a great Mother's Day, or a good Sunday. I certainly did.

It was the type of place you could visit and linger. You did not feel rushed.

Thank you, it was good food. Homemade things often have the best flavor. We had a nice salad as well.

That meal sounds huge and quite delicious. My Sunday dinner was Apricot Chicken.

That sounds very good. I enjoyed seeing the inside of the stone building, as the walls were just skim coated with plaster, I think. The massive wood beams accented it and the wide plank floor. It was good to see an old building (1871) in such good shape.

@GardenGerty I'm sure it was. It delights me that it's being put to good use without updating or modernising.

There are a few places here where you have the choice only about a couple of items, a very restricted menu.

Sounds like an interesting operation. Do they have blue cheese?

That is almost the very same meal that my husband and I had at home last evening. He had cole slaw with it, I don't like that, and we had corn for a vegetable, and scalloped potatoes-minus the bacon and no dessert.
