When John Wesley Bennett drove down HIghway 58 in Meigs County TN last Friday afternoon, little did he know what his life and many other lives were about to change forever. When the trailer he was pulling behind his dump truck let go and crashed into two vehicles, killing 4 innocent people, the world came to a stop for a loving married couple. Chris Denton, 36, and wife, Paula Stevens, 62, had been married for 13 years. Yes, there was big age difference but family members say their love was true and strong. Paula was diagnosed with throat cancer and the couple was on their way to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. Chris' Aunt said he took his wife to every doctor appointment. They were truly in love and they died together. John Wesley Bennett was captured last night in the next county over. The sheriff is going to give an update on how and where that happened along with all the felony charges against him. With all the charges against him here and in other counties hopefully he will never see the light of day again. Photo: pixabay.com/en/icon-news-newspaper-paper-1296626/

That is very sad. I don't know much else to say except, I hope the guy gets life in prison with no chance for parole.

I missed the sheriff's press conference so I'll have to catch it on the news as to how and where.

That is so sad. Pulling a trailer behind a dump truck?

@AbbyGreenhill ....I take it he shouldn't have been towing anything on the back.

It is a utility trailer - they use them to tow heavy equipment. They are probably 20-30 feet long and very heavy duty.

I feel so sorry for this couple, this woman has been so lucky to find a lovely husband who took care of her, despite the big age difference, but the destiny decided that they had to die.

As the aunt said, if there is something good - it is that they 'went' together. Hopefully they didn't see it coming....can you imagine.

@AbbyGreenhill It's horrible, but they were not separated, they are now together forever.

@LadyDuck Yes, they will be together forever. I was getting haircut yest. and the owner of the shop knows the family of the truck driver - interesting discussion - they feel sorry for him. I kept my mouth shut.
