I just read an article about a 72-year-old woman giving birth to her first child. That’s crazy. The parents will probably die before the kid is even ten years old.
Would you want to have a newborn at 72? I would be concerned about who would take care of the child after the parents are gone especially if there are no adult children of the couple.
Here’s a link to the story:
KHQ.COM - How old is too old to have a baby? 72-year-old Daljinder Kaur has been married to her 79-year-old husband, Mohinder Singh Gill for 47 years but they never had a child. Kaur underwent fer...

There is no way I would have a baby at that age or anytime after 35 years old actually.

@LovingMyBabies I would imagine after having a baby your body wouldn't be the same.

I would think most women would want to have a child past the age of 40. 35 sounds like a good age to quit.

I wouldn't do it, but sometimes I wish I could have another baby (I'm 53). I think it is a bit odd but I can't judge the couple. I know how long it took me to get pregnant and how desperately I wanted a baby. I am sure these two have plans with family members to care for the child if they should leave this earth before he becomes an adult.

I remember meeting an mid 80some year old male skater. I had seen him at several competitions with a toddler whom I assumed was his grandchild - but it turned out to be his son!! I have not not seen or heard about him in recent years . . . it's been over 15 years since I met him . . . so . . . . well, I'm just assuming the worst. But he had a VERY young wife, so if anything did happen, the boy would still have his mother. A different situation for the couple in the article.
But for myself, no. However I say that having 2 kids already . . . it may be different if I never had kids and had a great desire to have just that one no matter what. I don't doubt this couple has a lot of love for this child, but I sure hope they have the energy to raise this child.

@RichardMeister Wasn't Tony Randall in a similar situation (he was a much older dad)?

I was 40 when I had my last child. That is old enough. Don't read my posts, cuz then you will know how old I am.

I would think 40 is old enough to have your last child. I'm certain you're not any older than I am.

@Daljinder That's what I thought at the time. At the time the newspaper said they didn't know who the father was and this was long before DNA.

Yes, it is shocking. Back in the 1970s I read in a newspaper about a 7-year-old giving birth to twins. I thought that was pretty shocking, too.

Too old, I think, but at least the child was born with love. Hopefully they will make arrangements if it becomes necessary.

Yes, there appears to be a lot of love there. I would hope they have thought far enough ahead to make arrangements if necessary. It is possible the mother may live to be 90 when the child will be 18.

I think this couple will be around for a while. She gave birth at 72 years old. That's gotta be one strong lady.

I thinck give birth it's a blessing and if God give here a child at this age that meens that He have a purpose with that child and maybe she thought about it before and she is based on somebody that will tacke care about her child when she will passe away. I sincerrly don't want to have a child at this age but it's my choice.

I can't even begin to imagine giving birth at 72 never mind having to care for an infant. It's crazy
