Woke up with a migraine

I knew the headache yesterday had some punch too it. Alarm went off for work this morning and I woke up with a migraine in full roar. It's much better if I am awake to see em coming so I can take something in time. Now I am playing mitigation and catch up, which only works so well. So I will here, on and off between rests (yes I stayed home from work, can't really see the PC well, have floaters and noise and lights bother me). Hope everyone else is having a nice day. Oh yeah, the hook, lol. Do you have migraines and how do you deal with them?

I don't have migraines but know people who do and they are not easy to deal with.

I never woke up with one, they usually came on at work. If my boss wasn't in I just shut off the lights for a while and tried to keep myself calm.

I think work caused this one, I know I had fretting work type dreams last night. I am in a room with 15 other women, and the lights there bother me on a good day. I wear a hat now, with a brim to help shade my eyes

@AbbyGreenhill I am going to try. I promised to go in a few hours in the morning, try to work, see how it goes, but didn't promise to stay all day. I am going to try shading the screens too, with some car shades I think I can wedge over them to keep the glare from above down

I am not feeling the greatest today too! Hope you feel better. For me a little fresh air works especially if I'm shopping to cure my headache lol.

Migraines I used to get when i had stress, now I manage my stress better and less migraines - food like chocolates give me a little now and then and driving long distances

ironically dark chocolate helps my migraines, as does caffeine.

When I worked, I had horrible migraines. I don't know if it was something in the building that caused my problem but ever since I left that job, I never had another migraine.

mold, lighting, a sound maybe, or the stress of that job I supposed. Wild that whatever it was, you never encountered it again. But I am glad too you did not

@Jessicalynnt I'm very glad of it, too. They were horrible and to have them at work, where there was little I could to do alleviate them, was the worst!

I have really bad migraines as well. I have to take a BC powder to get it go away. I want to get away from taking so much medicine. It is so bad for your body, but at that moment it really helps. Taking a hot shower and letting the water just run over me, really helps for a little bit, but a Bc makes it go away.Hope your day got better yesterday.

Bc powder sometimes helps, just hard when migraines often come with upset stomachs.

Hope you're feeling better. I never had migraines before, but other types of headaches. Aspirin and naps helps me out.

Mine are usually at the base of the skull @Jessicalynnt and I just apply a hot, wet washcloth to that area. I also get the eye floaters and lights. Taking fish oil capsules will stop those completely.

@nanette64 did they appear with the headaches or all of the time? If I can find a pill that doesnt give me fishy indigestion I will have to try this

@Jessicalynnt The floaters. I saw an eye doctor about those and he said fish oil, so I thought, "What the heck". After about a month of taking 1 capsule daily, the floaters and dark spots stopped. I still continue to take the fish oil as it's good for you anyway.

Yes I do. Ibuprofen and Pepsi. I take 4 200mg Ibuprofen and a swig of Pepsi. If the migraine is extra bad, it could take two doses of Ibuprofen and a whole bottle of Pepsi before it's gone. There's something about Pepsi - the caffeine - to get rid of it.

I prefer Coke, but same deal, sugar, caffeine, they seem to help. Ibuprofen doesn't, but most pain meds don't help anymore.

@just4him it does, unless you get one of the special types that are 'caffine' free, and I dont even buy those lol. Tylenol only helps me with fevers

@Jessicalynnt I didn't think Coke had caffeine. Ibuprofen is still the only pain med that works for me. Nothing else does. I can't take Tylenol, Aleve, or Vica

it's worse, because the best treatment is taking something before it get's bad, when you wake up with one, you missed the chance to do that

When I was still living in Florida, my Migraines were 24/7/365 and accompanied by Cluster Headaches, and Vertigo. So, I was on Topomax, Amitriptyline, and Fioricet daily. Prior to then, when I was still up home in PA, or at least living somewhere north of palm trees, the Migraines (that I've been getting since 1968) occurred less often. So, I have awakened to my fair share as well. That is never fun, because, for me, those are usually the ones that last a week. I hope that you are feeling better soon.

I wonder if it was an age onset thing, or weather/mold. I remember visiting Florida and the weather would go from sunny to rain so fast, that kind of speed in weather changes will set off headachea in me, and I know I have some issues with mold and it is so humid there

@Jessicalynnt It was a combination of all of those and then some.

I have migraine. I know how difficult it can get. My doctor had prescribed sibelium but it didn't suit me. I started having hormonal disturbances. I don't take medicines anymore. I just sleep, at least try to. I miss college and spend the entire time lying down or drinking tea. Any form of sound sucks. I can't talk to anyone not even through a phone call. And all this after giving up coffee and chocolate(almost) :( :(

I have never been diagnosed with migraines. I used to have the occasional severe headache that did not respond to any medication. They quit happening when I added magnesium supplements and foods high in magnesium to my food. My worst headaches now seem to come if I do not regulate my caffeine and get just enough and not too much.

Lately most meds barely help if at all. I do much better if I am able to try prevention rather than dealing with a full fledged one

I get them occasionally if I'm exposed to flickering lights. The first sign is when the centre of a page/screen disappears. I then know I have half an hour to get some pain killers and a dark room before it really hits. If I can get to it early, I can sleep off the worst of it, but it usually takes 24 hours for the cluster to pass.

oh havens yes. strobe lights always give me one. I almost always have mild headaches, enough that I am used to, and ignore them, When I feel no headache at all, feel great, then I start to see wiggly lines that float around in my vision. I have an hour give or take to get some meds in, and get to a dark room, and maybe it will just be a bad headache and not a migraine. Sadly, over time, less and less meds help. Caffeine can though. Mine can take three days to fully go away.
