That darned cat. Everything is HIS. And yesterday, he saw the groundhog looking out of its hole in the brush. Well, to Scar, THIS MEANS WAR! It doesn't matter that he is completely outclassed by the size and weight of the groundhog...it is in HIS yard and it does not belong here he says. So now there is this argument...which I am losing, I might add...about where I am supposed to put his lead. I did set it so he can't actually go down in the hole after it...which is what he really wanted to do...so he's just relaxing outside the hole and patiently waiting for it to come out again. I love him dearly, but some day he is going to have to learn he is NOT the fierce black panther he wants everyone to think he is...

Do not ever argue with a cat. You will lose every time.Kind of like arguing with a women. Block me because I am sure I offended someone. lol

@JolietJake Run with that before Scar changes his mind. I also noticed the difference between females and males in dogs. My male alpha was chill but these females would drive a cat nuts. I need a regulator and maybe you also. Supposed to be us, but they made me pull out the hair I had left. lol.

Even worse, arguing with a female cat...at least Scar is 'one of the boys' so there is a bit of common ground there

If I could trust him to stay in his realm, I would let him out without a lead on, but directly behind that is a hill of brush leading down to the railroad, and he would like to go down there as well.

He's outside doing early morning 'yard guard' right now making sure the squirrels understand that might be their tree, but they'd better not come down...

I don't blame him for the look that stern look on his face, he means business! This is his yard and his domain he looks intent on maintaining it, I just hope that the groundhog brings his game face when he emerges because he's going to need it.

@JolietJake We have a river not too far from us and when I drive down the River Road I see them in the grassy area near the banks, and I know that they are fat, roly poly animals, but how agile or quick are they? I've not seen them haul it very quickly, I don't know what there natural predators are either, it would be interesting to research that and if their claws and teeth can do harm to smaller animals like cats.

@Juliaacv Oh yes, they can mess a cat up...they don't have many natural predators, to the best of my knowledge

He really doesn't understand he is just an average sized cat. The only thing that really bothers him is the garbage truck on Thursday mornings...that noisy big blue thing...he watches it from around the corner of the house until it leaves.

He had a big black dog come in the yard and start shouting at him one day...just stood his ground and said "BRING IT ON DUDE!" I went out and ran it off before he got hurt.

@JolietJake We've had a new dog visit for a couple of days - Morph just ignored it - then again he was bigger than the dog.

I have an kitty who wants to be on the offensive as well. And she is not on a lead. We keep an eye on her, and there is no ground hog here. Just other cats, bunnies, squirrels and coyotes and birds that we know of. Unless you count the deer.

Scar reminds me of my outside cat Bubba Red @JolietJake . He thinks he can take on the raccoon's; ergo his missing hair, scars and scrapes. A deterrent? Nope! He continues his mission.
