The Gym is Feeling Like a Man's World

I manage to force myself to go to the gym today. It's weird though I am the only woman working out today. Have all the women retreated to the tropics for winter. I feel self conscious with all these men around. Is your gym predominantly male infused too?

I don't go to a gym but probably wouldn't if it were mostly men. You could always put a bag on your head. Do you understand that saying? I don't know where it came from but basically if you have a bag on your head no-one can see you so you don't have to be embarrassed - a bit like an ostrich putting its head in the sand I guess.

Ahahaha I wanted to do weights but men are there a lot so I'm just doing cardio at the moment. Hopefully later I can do weights when they're gone. I need to find a bag.

That's still good. As long as you find a way to sweat and get fit.

@LadyDuck Wow. I'd give anything to be like that. I'm more of a yoyo. A cycle of being thin and fat. So I need to be consistent in my fitness routine.

haha, I think that is a great marketing tactic to get young gals there. You can tell all your friends that you get to meet with many healthy and good-looking guys there. They sure will come, even if not to work out, they will want to come and show off their figure.

@flapiz No need, they just need to get a young, hot actress to come and work out. There will be a long queue of people waiting to get into the gym.

@flapiz I do some youtube videos, and exercise dvds that I had bought. I use some weights my mother and I had bought. But this week I've been visiting with my mother so I haven't been exercising like normal.

I can understand your discomfort. Are the men courteous at least? Maybe if you change times and find when other ladies go.

Well they are quite courteous. At least I don't get hollers. Although I get some stares lol. I just have to play oblivious to it all and do my thing.

Oh that sounds intimidating. I would feel the same way probably if that happened in my gym. I notice in my gym - it's mostly a mix on the cardio side (tredmills, ellipticals, etc) but it's almost totally men in the weight machines and free weights area. Not sure why more ladies don't do weights.

I wanted to do weights to tone my shoulders but yeah men are all over the weights. So now I'm stuck in the cardio section.

I don't go to the gym but my adult son has a membership at the gym in town. He says it seems pretty even in the amount of men and women he sees there working out.

It used to be even in my gym but lately it's all men. I feel overpowered.

I did not have gyms when I was young.and still not used to them. I do simple exercises at home. I can understand your predicament as I would feel the same if I were the only male around - siva

@Shiva49 Appreciative glances makes me conscious ahaha. I got some but I guess that's because I got no competition. Ahahaha I'm pretty sure it won't be too bad for you.

@flapiz At least you may get some appreciative glances but not me. I hope I am not misunderstood if I say I will stick out like a sore thumb in a female gym workout place! siva

I actually prefer jogging than going to the gym but it's winter and cold so I am forced to go indoors. I think other women have hibernated.

@Pankhini I just felt so guilty from eating too much today. My appetite is very high when I'm on my menstrual cycle.
