Supplement Me

My doctor told me to start taking Niacin. It's an over the counter supplement, one I've never used. I'm already on Vitamin B12, and recently (last 7months) added Vitamin C for my eyes. I easily get enough Vitamin C in my every day diet, but they recommend more after the eye surgeries I've had. All of these have been recommended by a physician; I'm not just picking things and hoping they work. I used to just take a multivitamin, but I didn't think a multivitamin and these other things together would be wise. I look forward when I can get back to just one multivitamin and B12. Are you on any over the counter vitamins or supplements? I know a lot of people don't think they work. But if you want to get your blood sugar down, take cinnamon supplements. Doctors recommend it, and I know they helped lower blood sugar for a diabetic in the family.

I take two supplements - Feverfew for my headaches, two a day and yes, it works very well, and if you take them every day whether you have them or not, it keeps them gone or they go away faster. I also take Tri-Flex for my arthritis. I highly recommend that one as it started working the first time I used it. I'm in almost no pain in my knees now.

@JudyEv I thought that about my knees but they're feeling better than they have in years. Some days I have no trouble going up stairs. If things continue I expect I won't have any trouble with stairs soon. Tri-Flex is a GNC product. Do you have that health food store there?

I wonder if we have Tri-Flex here. I have a bit of arthritis in my knuckles. I guess it's not going to get any better.

@hereandthere It's hard to say if it helped or not, I just have a couple of knuckles that get sore from time to time. And the tablets were expensive.

I take quite a few supplements, some on my own, others at the recommendation of a doctor or two.I take D3 but will remove all of it from my supplements for two weeks next month to see what I actually need with a blood test. I get D and A in cod liver oil supplements, on advice of a previous eye doctor. In your case, I would get a B complex with C vitamin that has the amounts your doctor recommends of those three vitamins. The niacin, if taken alone and on an empty stomach can cause "flushing". Vitamins B and C are water soluble and it is hard to get too many. It is okay to take them with a multi.

They are usually found with other vitamins and supplements in stores. My bottle says Cinnamon 500mg. The directions say two tablets, once a day, and to take it with a meal. It really does work to lower blood sugar. My sister used to be diabetic, and when she was her doctor recommended Cinnamon tablets. She saw great results.
