It's Microsoft's fault

that I was dropping F bombs today... I have been avoiding the stupid Windows 10 upgrade. In fact, I was going to do a system change so I wouldn't get the upgrade reminders at all, but I never got around to it. Got another reminder this weekend, closed it out, and next thing I know, the stupid thing is installing. Ok that wasn't so bad. I can live with this version way better than Windows 8, but it really messed me up today. I had to scan a copy of my passport for the new job, and the scanner software wouldn't open. I finally had to uninstall the printer driver and reinstall it, and then it worked, but it took me over an hour. So I dropped a few F bombs and grrrr.....

My printer's maybe 5 years old, and there's a lot of reportings of 10 causing issues with HP printer software.

@dawnald Oops. That's what I have, but it is new. The guys at the Microsoft store said there were few problems with HP. Maybe it's the age of yours.

I have a new PC waiting in a box. Probably has windows 8. If it does, I will upgrade it as I really dislike 8.

@ElizabethWallace If you have your settings to do updates automatically, one of them had the windows 10 nag thing embedded in it.

You have not to complain, you were lucky : some scanner drivers are not working at all with Windows 10. And some software working well before the upgrade are buggy here and there... So you can expect to drop a few F bombs more in the next days.

At least mine is working now, thank goodness, although new printers are pretty cheap. Buy I'd really be aggravated if I had to buy a new one when the old one is working perfectly well.

@crazyhorseladycx I had more trouble yesterday. This laptop couldn't get internet, and the "diagnose and repair" program couldn't fix it. Logged on today thinking to back it up and start using the new laptop, and right away it had internet. Go figger.

@dawnald that'd be a polite way to put't. the aunt'd such self-install's well. didn't've any troubles til 'bout 2 months out. microsoft'd not honor her bought registered copy'f windows 7, so i'd the need to remove all her programs 'n reinstall windows 10. been'n absolute nightmare - her files're still there, but seems many'f the programs to open such aint compatible...

This will be me on Thursday and Friday probably. Wish me luck. I would hate to have to do what you did, because I am clueless (well, not completely, but close enough).

I can always PM instructions to you. Basically I went to settings and uninstalled the printer driver and then downloaded and re-installed it.

@ElizabethWallace fingers and toes crossed... Other than the printer driver, my upgrade was pretty uneventful.

@dawnald Thanks for the tip. I'll wait to see if there is a problem before I try this. If the MS guys are right, I won't have an issue. Finger crossed. If you hear screaming at noon tomorrow, you'll know why.

That's a pretty big leap, but 8 was worse. They went and made 10 look more like 7 which is more like xp.

Despite being out since last July, I believe, Windows 10 is a mixed bag. You're not the only one who has a love/hate relationship with Window's 10. I upgraded when it came out because I didn't want it to decide to auto-update on me. Seeing as I use screen reading software.I was forced to upgrade my version of JAws (the screen reader I use),And, that's my biggest complaint. The computer I'm using, didn't do to bad, and short of having to have the mother board replaced and buy a new power cable it's okay with Window's 10. But, my laptop, half the key commands don't work, I can't use HUlu on it, and it's lagy and slow. I have a second 2 in 1, (I had to buy it so I could pay bills), well it was an open box. The os crashes constantly, the touch screen fails and don't get me started on the graphics card. Yeah... it's the worst. So, I don't blame you because I've had mixed results.

I'm OK with 10, just not the auto upgrade or the fact that it messed up my printer software at a time when I really needed to use it. Did n't appreciate the hour of my time that it took either.

@dawnald I don't blame you. The os can be a pain, but you get what you pay for or in this case don't. I love the Idea of a free upgrade, I just wasn't happy with how pushy they were.

I finally updated to Windows 10 on the other laptop we have in the house. It went better than expected. I was thinking I would be dropping a few F-bombs over the whole thing too! lol

Until now I havent upgraded. I am so comfortable with Windows 7 and I have bad experiences with Windows 8 so I really hesistate from trying Windows 10.

It is difficult to deal with these issues and most would have been dropping something!

Microsoft shouldn't force this update on users. Also I have read at some places that Microsoft introduces some patches in Windows 10 which enables it to collect data in the background. Worst part is this happens without the user's consent and it can't be opted out of!
