This stamp has me totally excited. This week there were a few FIRST's for Me . . . receiving postcards from friends from around the world - I call them friends because its quite an effort to find a decent postcard, a beautiful stamp and then the trouble to send it to a stranger, which after all that, becomes a postcrossing friend. My first from Malta - I have shared already and what a stunning holiday destination that must be - Its on my Bucket list. My first from FINLAND - this is also on my bucket list together with a cruise around the Northern Europe - Denmark, Sweden and Germany. The card was of the snow capped trees and the moonlight shining on them - I shall show it later, but the most exquisite part of the card, was the STAMP!! "Ornately beautiful gold-embossed swan High-profile Finnish illustrator and designer Klaus Haapaniemi will unveil his first foray into stamp design in May, with the release of his Gold swan. The stamp’s ornate decorations, rendered in gold foil, are inspired by eastern Finnish and Slavic cultural traditions." What do you think of this beautiful collectors stamp. I am a lucky girl indeed!

That is a very beautiful stamp. I haven't bought stamps in years, nor mailed anything, I am not sure I even know what a stamp costs anymore.

This is a beautiful stamp. I have seen today the new stamp to celebrate the Gotthard Tunnel, it costs 10 Swiss Francs, more or less $10.00. Our postage is pretty expensive. Here is the stamp.

@Inlemay We have many stamps that are made in three separate sections, but it's a shame to separate them. I have sent an email to the post office asking to inform me when they are available. That one in the photo was exposed as a "sample".

@LadyDuck we often have collections that come in one form - i never separate them as that spoils the whole collection

@Inlemay It must be of more value to you to receive it on a personal postcard than acquiring it any other way.

Those red things up its neck look a bit like the red rose of the house of Lancaster. I wonder if there is any connection with Finland!!

@Inlemay I haven't come across any. I used to work with a guy who was half Finnish but I have no idea where he is now so that's not much use!

You are a lucky girl!! That is a beautiful stamp. How do you store your postcards? Some of my postcrossing friends take the stamps off and put them into their own album.

I make postcard books that are laminated - this preserves the postcards and the stamps

When I was a kid with a stamp album, Hungary was the place for fabulous stamps. The phrase 'Magyar Posta' is still fresh in my mind.
