myLot™...come because of the money...leave because of the money

Money...everybody wants some.
And lots of people come here because they want some too.
And then they get fed up and leave because they aren't earning hundreds of dollars each month.
I guess they are reading blogs somewhere that talk about how they can earn just for posting or some such thing...so they come here, make a few posts, then start wondering (and posting) about how can they make more money here.
No one (that ever told the truth) said myLot was a place to come and get 'easy money'.
In fact, if your sole purpose to be here is to earn, you probably would be better off somewhere else.
Now, don't get me wrong...I am not saying anyone should leave...but you'll find you enjoy the site a lot better if you throw the money in some little compartment, seal it off from the rest of your thoughts, and just hang out and talk with people.
After all, the more you are talking, the more people can talk back, and that is where you are going to earn.
But you aren't going to earn a lot.
And you aren't going to earn much of anything without applying yourself and interacting.
Even then, a goal of $30 a month will use up a LOT of time.
If your goal here is to earn, and nothing else, then you are going to be disappointed.
Money is an incentive to be here...if it is your reason, then you may want to change your approach.
(Except for that guy that keeps thinking he can get $90-$100 here a month...don't change your strategy, I love watching you
)

I find it strange that some people never quite grasp the concept that a discussion on its own isn't going to make you any money.
Some of the best days I've had on here (both financially and in terms of enjoyment) have been days I haven't posted a discussion and just spent my time interacting on other people's discussions.

I think the two most important links here are the Most Recent Discussions and Most Recent Activity links, so you can see what everyone else is doing and join in with their conversations, but lots of users either don't know about them or choose to ignore them for some reason.

@JolietJake I just think there are many, many people who still believe it's all about writing discussions which, in reality, is all about "me, me, me".

@WorDazza Maybe they think it is misspelled and is really 'meLot'

Lol he has real high expectations and he will be disappointed. As you already know I just enjoy being here with all of my friends. The little bit of extra money we make is a nice bonus.

I kind of feel sorry for people that misread the earnings amount and think 30 cents is 3 dollars...then they get mad because they don't have what they thought they had

If you devoted your whole day to myLot and nothing else, you might make enough to pay for your daily boloney sandwich, but it's going to be disappointing when they shut off the electricity because that didn't get paid. It's nice to have a few extra dollars, but I don't think there's anywhere on the net you can go to make enough money to live on.

@JolietJake and is mylot for "people that write articles professionally?"
@JolietJake (50190)
•
3 Jun 16
I think some people that write articles professionally can do it, but the average person isn't going to be able to.

I'm kind of glad there isn't a 'referral' system here (at the moment) because I know what is going to happen if they implement one...people are going to start pushing it as a 'money making' site...again...

The guy who thinks that the can get $90-100/month has absolutely no idea. That is pure ignorance, it takes a lot to make the payout amount each month, and people don't get that, it is usually a pretty good gauge as to the work involved and turn around time to make that set amount.

@JolietJake Yeah, that would be a good place to start, but I like to try to keep myself up to the pace of earning what the former payout was. I have to say, that for me, it gets easier as I go along.

@Juliaacv I kind of set a 'goal' back in August to make payout every month, which required about 34 cents a day...but I abandoned it after seeing I really didn't have to 'try' to reach it

With the lower payout now, a person only needs 17 cents each day average, which to me isn't hard at all. I just got 11 cents in the last hour.

No...friendship is the goal...learning is a goal...knowing some funny things is a goal, to have some laughs is the goal..if only people realize that having fun can reduce medical bills, and that is added advantage then..mere five dollars would not really matter as much.

This is true. Money was the goal when I first signed up here but realized at a later time that there is more to it. The last activity that I had here was 3 years ago. I just missed writing stuff here and interacting with other people. I was surprised that I was still able to remember my password for this site. This is an amazing place for people to be heard and discuss with others common interests.

"The more people can talk back." But I thought the powers that be didn't want us talking back no more?

@JolietJake LOL, very true, but if were donuts instead of dollars, there would surely be a lot of hit and run going on here.

In general, there is no writing or blog type site that is going to make a ton of money. Even the old defunct sites weren't big payers. I guess some specialty sites can pay well or maybe Hubpages but no is ever going to make this income people think they are going to get. You come here to do some writing and interact with others and make a few cents for it. Accept it and be happy for those pennies.

Having these occasional sites pop up that promise 'big bucks' and then quickly fold probably aren't helping matters any. They give people unrealistic expectations.

@JolietJake It's the "quick buck" people that drag down sites with lousy posts.

This is definitely very true. No one will get rich from being here, and it doesn't replace your day job. It's a good place to be, meet new people, discuss things, while earning a little every day. By little I mean a few dollars a month.

@JolietJake They sure miss out on the fun of Mylot.
I think those who spend hours on Facebook are really weird. If they can find hours there, and earn nothing, why don't they come here and earn something.

A good example of what I mean...someone just told me in a different discussion " i am not ready to spend my time for cents". This is probably not the place for them then.

I don't set myself a goal of how much I earn a month here.It actually takes my a lot of time to earn $1,however I don't care about that and enjoy reading others' posts and responding to them .

Good for you.
'Goals' to me seem to make things a bit rougher...people become worried about 'reaching my goal' instead of just enjoying the interaction.

$30 a month, you'd spend hour after hour after hour here...$100 a month? Probably just wishful thinking...

I think if he kept trying for a few years, and the population here increased a lot, he might do it...but it's highly doubtful
