Personal Pictures Are Showing Up Sideways

United States
June 3, 2016 11:29am CST
For the last three posts, my pictures are showing on the site sideways and I apologizes for that, but even though when I save the picture to my computer, the picture is the right way, when I add image here it shows it sideways. Does anyone know why that happens? I've shared the picture on FaceBook even and it shows up right, but when I post it here, it shows side ways!! So what am I doing wrong? This has never happened before!! ~Peace~ photo courtesy of pixabay

Maybe that is part of the glitch we seem to be having on here.

That is strange. Is it perhaps putting the longest side as the top, posting it in landscape when you did not intend it that way, kind of as a default/

I have learned that just because a photo shows up in my album in one position doesn't necessarily mean it's going to stay that way. I open to edit it and save it in the correct position so that it stays that way whenever I choose to post it somewhere else. When I was at the 40th anniversary reunion of my grade 8 graduation class a couple of weeks ago, the organizer shared a slide show of pictures. Though the pictures has posted properly on his server, they were coming up on the screen sideways and upside down. He's an easy going guy but was a little frustrated. We made do but it was unfortunate things went screwy. I have since gone to the server where he has downloaded all these pictures and they are upside down and sideways there. I don't know why the heck these things happen. I'm not that knowledgeable on photography and/or computers.

Did you happen to take them on an iPhone? I have that problem if I upload pictures straight from my phone. If you download a free photo editing program, make a small edit to the picture (crop it or such) then save a new version of the picture - upload that new picture to here and see if it works. That is my suggestion at least, it is a random iPhone bug I ran into awhile ago.
