Offences Committed Overseas

I believe this is a global issue where travelers have a knack of committing misdemeanors when they are visiting other countries. I don't know about how you feel but I support the punishing these offenders when they return to their countries. In China, the authorities are blacklisting offenders when they return to China if they are found guilty of putting our country in disrepute like an incident which involved an accompanied 15 year old child defacing a 3500 years old artifact in Egypt which really caused an uproar. In the UK, I read how a pedophile was actually charged with 22 life sentences for 71 child abuse cases in UK. I don't know if he was arrested and punished while he was committing the crimes overseas or not. I think this is a good way of keeping the travelers in tact and not cause trouble or commit a crime while they are overseas. If it is the latter, then expect to be punished again when they return back to their country. Do you think this system is over-excessive? I don't know what makes these people think that they can get away with murder or the sorts. It is even worse when they go about committing heinous crimes like this pedophile. I hope he gets the full books for what he did all that time.

i sometimes doubt such data. because people overseas are too paranoid.

But isn't it a wonder that they could bear their bear their good conscience doing all these.

It is not about being paranoid. It is about being strikingly obvious.

India needs folks to behave at home before they go outside. Indian men tend to misbehave with air hostesses I am told.

To be fair I believe this is not restricted to Indian men only, if you know what I mean.

@vandana7 I suppose familiarity breeds contempt for your case here. I don't blame you, I mean look at us Chinese when we are overseas, we seem to chalk up the most awards for being an obnoxious traveler when abroad.

For me this is just right . Offenders coming into the country should be punished according to its existing law even if they are tourists . That way , tourists will be careful in their visit to a country .

Do you think they should be punished just the same when they return back to their own country?

@artemeis For me , they need be reprimanded by the higher authorities for shaming them for misbehaving in another country .

.....and likewise when they return back to their country for putting one's own country in jeopardy like a ban on traveling or something else.

I don't think it's excessive because they have tarnished the image of their mother country. It is therefore fitting that they be meted to corresponding punishment if and when they are repatriated.

I fully agree with you and it is really putting one's country in disrepute. It will also bring about unnecessary animosity for future fellow countrymen who are making the trip there.

@artemeis You're right, my friend! It indeed causes friction between the two countries and their citizens.

My exact sentiments here. It is really shocking how one could abandon all their good nature conscience when they are abroad.

I stand for throwing the book at those people who brought the country name into disrepute by what they have done during overseas tour.I haven't went abroad so far.It is beyond me why some people that travel abroad let themselves go and do what they want to ,instead of "do in Rome as the Romans do".

It is even more alarming when they could leave behind their clear conscience and morality when they are traveling abroad. I really wonder what had gotten into them in the first place.

One should not get away from law just because they are a tourist and in a foreign country. I am happy when laws are enforced - siva
