Deleting Friends over Politcal views

I think it's really lame to delete someone on Facebook just because they disagree with your views politically. Of course, it can be dangerous to express too many views on a social media platform with others.
But, deleting just because they view something differently is lame. And it doesn't show much for that person's character. The United States is a democracy, everyone has the RIGHT to believe what they want to believe. Calling someone "ignorant" just because their views are different from yours is just stupid and lame. Do you agree?

I don't accept people that I don't know or that I don't speak to in real life.
I have warned people ahead of time about my political views and have still been deleted.
I also have stated that it's my Facebook page and if my posts offend you then delete me.
I'm completely ok with being deleted, even if it's over my personal views. I post my personal views on life to articles that interest me that stream across my page. Much like I do here, although I'm a bit more held back here.

I was referring to IRL friends. I hardly accept friends I haven't met in person first, some I've been in groups with and actually talked to but haven't "met" in person...

I get really annoyed with some on my friends lists who constantly post rather ignorant status updates about politics. There is a way to block their updates so they are not on your news feed without deletig them as a friend. I have done that with quite a few folks.

I agree with you, it is lame and so childish to delete someone or a friend on Facebook because of political views. I stay away with discussions on such to avoid argument.

First off I think Facebook is stupid. I say that because they have not changed anything there in a long time. As for political views, well, politics is stupid and lame itself. There will never be total agreement one way or the other. And I believe that political and religious views don't belong on any public social media. They are the two topics that cause arguments and enemies. They are just not worth it. I know who my political and religious views are, and that's all I have to worry about. It is not for everyone else to pick at or pull apart. People who do delete friends because of their political views are the ignorant ones. You're right, that is lame.

We join Social media link with the purpose of meeting more friends, sharing good things and learning more from other. Knowing each others through videos and pictures and comments.
I think is not good for us to share very sensitive topics, like religions, other country policy and topic like any type of racist or discriminatory remarks, because the whole world is seeing.
We are here to make friend and have fun, not finding or creating problems, pointing the fingers to other lo.
I hope we will not see this happen in myLot.

I deleted some people during the last presidential campaign. They were heavy into name calling for people who did not agree with them. I finally had enough of some people and unfriended them. I don't want my page full of nasty names and comments. Was I supposed to just ignore it?
This time around, I only check on friends and relatives. That is the only thing I do on FB.

I wouldn't delete anyone over political views per se, but I would over behavior. If the person couldn't carry on a conversation in a civil manner, I'd leave the conversation. If there were repeated attempts to force into the conversation, or to intimidate me or coerce me, they'd be gone. Life's too short.

I hadn't spoken to a friend since 2012 because of politics-her decision, not mine although she was in the hospital recently and I contacted her to see if all was okay.
