Dish You Love To Prepare For Your Guests

It’s my husband’s birthday this coming Monday. Given the choice, I would rather just treat the guests in a restaurant, but my husband wants his birthday to be celebrated at home instead. He is never satisfied with restaurant foods and also he wants a more personal way to entertain our guests. He told me not to forget fresh spring rolls and Cordon Bleu in the menu. Cordon Bleu is a dish of thinly sliced chicken breast meat, rolled with ham and cheese filling, breaded and pan-fried then sliced and topped up with rich, creamy sauce. What dish do you love to prepare for your guests?

How I wish my husband agreed to take them to the restaurants. The cooking and the entire preparation make me sick by now. But I have to just submit to his requests for anyway, his birthday is just once a year.

@salonga at least you have helpers to cook and do the work with you. Here, I am the only one who do the cooking and baking. Well my hubby helps shopping and all the rest is my job. Anyway, it's only once a year and I love cooking and baking.

Both dishes sounds amazing and delicious! Did you make them yourselves too? Usually at parties we buy roasted pig with noodles, vegetables, egg rolls, and some finger foods!

Yes, I do cook with the help of my sisters and nieces. Buying cooked food is easier but my husband does not like buying, he really wants to tire us up.

I think that's because your hubby likes your spring roll and Cordon Bleu s much . What better gift you have for your hubby is cooking them for his birthday . In our early years of marriage i also would cook one or two recipes when it's my husband or daughter's birthday . Now

You are right I am finding it hard to enjoy the bonding because I am busy in the kitchen and it is exactly the situation now. I just asked for a time out to visit mylot for a while.

@SIMPLYD I did and he said this will be the last and next time he will consider that option or better yet have just a private celebration in a hotel just for the family only, thanks!

@salonga Maybe you better tell your husband that you find it hard to enjoy the bonding because you are there at the kitchen busy , Maybe one recipe would be enough , then just buy the rest , so you can enjoy the occasion .

It depends on the kind of people we invite. I find it very difficult to cook for vegan and vegetarians. I love cooking meat dishes.

It seems that your husband is exactly like mine, he is never satisfied by the restaurants food. Cordon bleu is also one of his favorite dishes, but without the sauce. He also love lasagna.

I always wanted to cook cordon bleu. What are the food in the picture? Is it lumpiang sariwa? I always love to eat that but I do not want to cook that. I love cooking kare-kare.

Advance happy birthday to your husband. Preparing foods at home for a birthday party is appropriate, I think. You can save some amount not like in a restaurant, yes less effort but the taste is lesser compared to what we prepare.

Before I though it is spelled blue The photos were taken from my niece's wedding last Saturday. I and my husband enjoyed the Cordon Bleu and spring rolls of all the dishes so he wanted them served again on his birthday on Monday.

@salonga Besides when you cook at home, the aftercare is another problem if you have no children to help you out. In restaurants too, you have to have enough money to pay.

i prefer celebrations to be held at home too. i dont normally request my mother to cook for something specific. but my dad would always ask for 'inihaw na panga' (grilled jaw) or any grilled fish.

Do you have a recipe for the sauce of cordon bleu? We usually serve fried chicken, pancit, spaghetti if it's for the kids... When there are adults, my motyer prepares goat dishes -- pinapaitan, kilawin, caldereta and rice.
