My Fridge Magnets

United States
June 15, 2016 6:42am CST
@Inlemay posted her fridge magnets yesterday and I loved seeing them and counting the countries represented. I have a few myself that I separated for a picture that represented countries or states visited that I've been given or picked up on travels. The refrigerator magnet is a great souvenir because it's small, useful, decorative and inexpensive. Each one is a tiny representative of somewhere you want to remember. My little Mexican sombrero recently fell off and broke on the tile floor. The tall pointed hat must have been a little top heavy. An item that will be replaced on my next trip to Mexico. It was favorite. I challenge you to post yours!

I took the majority of mine off of the fridge, and only keep a few to tack up a couple of pieces of paper that I leave on the fridge, otherwise I'd take a snap.

I keep my favorites on the side so I can see them when I cook, but they aren't a focal part of the room. I usually use the Moose one that my husband picked up in Canada when I want to hold any reminders on the front. I think it's the only magnet he ever picked out!

@Jeanniemaries We have so many, and like you said, they were picked up from when my parents travelled, and they would bring you home several from each trip. I had to pack them up because I grew tired of them. But a few of the really flat ones are good for holding things.

So displaying fridge magnets is the latest craze of choice. They can be fascinating, but I gave up buying them a while back.

@Asylum So when you must post a reminder on your fridge, say a party invitation you must use tape?

I only have about three fridge magnets - my mum has dozens

@Jeanniemaries yes, they were free gifts with a spoof book I bought on the history of tripe - a sort of ofal-meat served in working class communities

Are the three fun ones?

Thanks! I don't have many, I keep them on the side of the fridge where I cook, so I can see them but they aren't a focus in the kitchen.

I have no fridge magnets, my refrigerator is covered with the same wood of the kitchen cabinets.

@Jeanniemaries I do not see the side of the fridge, it's part of the kitchen.

Mine stay on the side, the side I can see when I cook so I can see them but they aren't a focal point in the kitchen.

I hope I could have some fridge magnets. The only thing I had collected is key holder from different places. It is a hobby for me.

You have some neat magnets. I wouldn't know where to start in photographing ours. My wife has been collecting magnets for some years now and they cover the front and side of the fridge as well as three sides of the filing cabinet in our home office. The represent the states and places we've visited over the years plus all the boys' school pictures going back to pre-K.

It's probably hard to pick out a small group of favorites.

Wow - you have a lot of interesting ones. I only have a small one which my daughter gave me years ago - 'If mothers were flowers, you'd be the one I'd pick'.

Love your magnets and hope this challenge takes off as it would be fun to see what other people have on their refrigerators. I only have a few totally uninteresting ones and definitely nothing worth sharing (unless you need a plumber or insurance agent LOL)

I'm just curious where the "Hell" one is from?

From a community called Hell in the Grand Cayman Islands. There are hot springs there and a large area of lava peaks. Someone sat a statue of a devil on top of one of the lava peaks plus it is very hot there most of the year! Haha! Nothing much there except a gas station and gift shop and a few homes.

The Cat in the Hat is my local Florida one, it's from Universal Studios! Haha! It's one of my newest. Thing 1 and Thing 2 are floating in actual water. (sealed of course). I loved Dr Seuss as a kid. Yes, the clock is from Germany. The one I use the most is the Moose one, my husband picked it out, the only one he ever bought . We got it when we went to Canada. it's funny to those in the know because he was a sweetheart, not a tough guy!
