Addiction to making money

The addiction to making money is not due to the love of money. It is more like a workaholic who is addicted to work. When you are addicted to making money, the money itself is not important. It is the comparison you make when you compared with others. If you make a million dollars, and your colleague or good friend makes a million and one thousand dollars, you do not feel good. You want to make even more money so that you can get even with your friends. Addiction to making money is a very dangerous addiction. It hurts health, and relationship, and you start to see people in term of money that they make. Fortunately most of us do not have this addiction, since we are wise enough to put people ahead of money.

@scheng1,Right.When making money becomes an addiction, you lose your conscience and are likely to adopt unfair, illegal means to satisfy your desire which further lands you in big troubles.

@else34 I think the process of making more and more money is very interesting, and it sure makes a person very happy. If you are getting promotion at work every year, you will be very motivated to stay back and do extra work.

When making money becomes an addiction, a person will be very happy though all his friends and family members will be very miserable. He is actually losing everyone but he does not know it yet.

There are several addictions that have to do with this. I like to go to the casino and I thought for a long time that it was for the money. But I have the same fun playing for tokens.

I like casino too. It is not just the money. The game is fun, and the atmosphere really makes you happy, especially when you or someone else wins. A casino is like a playground for adults.

I agree. People are working to make eveb with their peers. I also happen to know people working for money to party and be extravagant about it. People these days should be save in case there is an emergency or something unexpected to happen.

Yes, that is very good advice. I think the part about partying is a very cultural thing. Partying is big in Philippines, and most people do not think about saving or buying insurance or buying a house when they are young. Yet these are the things that are important to us in Singapore, sometimes to the point of postponing enjoyment in life until we have a house, enough insurance coverage, and savings.

those who are addicted to anything actually feels happy about it. For me, I have an addiction for coffee. I must have coffee every morning. I feel very happy when I drink coffee and eat breakfast. I think those who are addicted to money will feel the same way towards accumulating more and more money.

Those who are addicted to money actually feel happy accumulating the money. They are happy but their family may not be so happy. If you are living with someone who thinks about making money all the time, and have no time to visit the sick relatives or other social events, that is quite miserable.

If she has children, her children will have a very good life after she has gone to heaven! Ultimately we have to leave our money behind for someone else.

I love money too. Having more money gives a sense of security and confidence. I am not addicted to money, though I like the uses of money, and the good thing that money can buy.

That means you are addicted! When I do not have coffee, and I keep on thinking about coffee, I know that I have an addiction. It is the same with money. You will keep on thinking about it, and you will find that you yearn for it, and that is a sure sign of addiction.

Some people work because they like the challenges. It is not just to make a living. They like the challenges, and they probably get something good when they do a great job. Think about the tax officers catching the rich who are evading taxes.

Your post reminds me of the story of the fabled king 'Midas'. In the end he realized that gold was not everything.

Actually there is a deeper lesson. When he is amassing money, he is actually very happy. That is something that many people miss. Most of us are miserable at our job, because we just want to make ends meet. If we are amassing money and we get more and more money, we will be happy in the process, though in the end we may not realize that we lost the relationship with friends and family.

When most people who are satisfied with their present lives, such as have a nice paid job, happy family, vacation time etc. Then making more money is not that important for them. After all, the money can't buy many things, such as the happiness and health

Not really. I have seen many happy people who still want to make more money. They are worried about the future, especially the medical cost, and the cost of education for their children. I think when you think about it, the future medical cost is going to cost 10 times or 20 times more than now, and I think many people prefer to stay in private ward.

I can't deny that I would like to have a lot of money, but luckily I'm not addicted to this goal because enjoying life is more important to me than acquiring large sums of money at any cost. I can have a good time even with little money as long as I am in a place I like and in the company of people whose thoughts and interests are quite close to mine. In my opinion money should be seen as a means to help us achieve our dreams, not as the purpose of life.

The richest in your country can never use up all the money even if they live to 1000 years old. i think they still make a lot of money even if they do not work now, because their businesses are making money for them. I think only those who are working for others have to work harder for more money, and though some are addicted to make money, most just drag themselves to work.
