I'm determined to check in here at least once a week, no matter how busy I get. And I'm sure many of you know what I mean when I say this has been one of those weeks. However, I'm not moaning, I prefer to be busy, doing things I choose to do. That's what being retired is all about. Now, one thing I've neglected in my life is learning all those girlie things that others know automatically. Like scarf tying. I own a few scarves that I wear on occasions, but I am not very adventurous when making them look their best. Last week I decided to buy a new scarf, and wandered into a small shop selling all that girlie paraphenalia such as scarves, necklaces and such. I found the scarf I liked almost immediately and the friendly shop assistant said, "Let me show you how to tie it." I decided this was an opportunity too good to miss. Now I not only have a new scarf, but I've learned a new way to tie it. The scarf in the photo is not my new one, but a scarf courtesy of Pixabay images. Are you one of those that keeps up with fashion or more like me, just learning one way of doing things and sticking with it?

I'm happy you learned something new. It's never too late! I am one who tends to keep up with fashion, but give it my own twist. I usually stick with classic styles.

@DianneN now I'll no doubt go to extremes and tie the few scarves I do own all the same way

@valmnz An event I noticed recently glories in the title "50 ways to wear a scarf". I didn't attend.

Oh my, 50 ways would have completely overwhelmed me! One new way every five years is all I can cope with.

@valmnz I think number 50 should be how to tie the scarf as a noose!

I tend to stick with one way, how to properly tie a scarf is not something I've ever thought of, but now I'm curious

I don't know if there is a proper way, I think you can just tie it to suit yourself

More like you , can't keep up with fashions. I run for a hair cut only when I start looking terrible . Though, I love people who are always well turned out. Jeans are considered fashionable here. I'll try it with a scarf soon.

The scarf lady laughed at me and suggested I come and buy another scarf some time and she'd show me another way.

I do not keep up in fashion, I never did even when I was young. When I am unsure how to do something I check the YouTube videos. I am sure I can find lessons on how to tie a scarf.

I'm afraid I'm not very adventurous with scarves. I do like them, but don't do anything fancy with them. You'll have to post a picture of you waering your scarf the new way.

i don't reckon i've e'er worn a scarf? fashion 'n myself aint usually spoken'n the same sentence, lol. i wear what's comfy, sometimes the same schtuff fer years 'til't totally wears out :) wonderful that gal was kind 'nough to show ya how to tie that. the daughter's quite fond'f scarves, wears 'em quite oft. i aint ne'er figured all the diff'rent ways she tied 'em. too frightened to ask coz she'd prolly bought me one i'd then feel obligated to wear, lol. big hugs!

I always try to keep up with fashion. I buy my jeans from Target and my t-shirts from either Target or LL Bean. My hiking boots come from Big 5 Sporting Goods.
