This is not about Father's Day...

I'm about Father's Day-ed out due to all the gushy posts on Facebook this morning. So I thought I would talk about something different. I am a member of Crowdtap and one of the missions is about the new Rubbermaid Freshworks Produce Savers. I put in to get one for free, but alas, I was not chosen. I wanted one so I finally went online and bought a set. Free would have been nice, but the money this product will save in the long run is worth the cost. I have two Tupperware Lettuce Keepers - which are great for head lettuce. We grow leave lettuce. The large Rubbermaid container is perfect for storing that kind of lettuce, or any other leafy veggie. I stored Swiss chard in there for a week and it was as fresh as the day I picked it. I have stored carrots and other veggies in them. I won't reinvent the wheel by giving you all the reasons your produce will last 80 percent longer in these containers, you can read about it in the link I will provide. Take my word, a few bucks (a few more than a few!) for these containers is money well spent. I now have two of the large and one small...I need one of the medium size and that should do me. Shop around online to get the best price! Photo is mine, that's the large container filled with lettuce. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/rubbermaid-freshworks-2-piece-produce-saver-set/1046137234?skuId=46137234&utm_source=bingpla&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=ProductType1%3Dfood%20prep%20tools&mcid=PS_bingpla_nonbrand_kitchenfoodprep_&creative=9338890695&device=c

Buy where you get the best price. I made the mistake of buying one large one at a grocery store - I paid the same for that one that I did to buying the big and a small thru Amazon.

@AbbyGreenhill I think that the grocery store is the worst place to buy stuff like that.

That does sound like a good product to store and keep lettuce leaves to last longer.

I was staring at the photo thinking...that's a Rubbermaid Freshworks Produce Saver...that looks like the one I have for romaine...and it is!!! And I agree (I tried for the trial too and didnt get it). I went and got one..then got the other two, and now have hooked my mom and three or four coworkers on them They are AMAZING. Produce doesnt go to waste now. It really does last in there a really long time

I had a photo of the thing with the label still on but I wanted to show the lettuce in it instead. I need a few more small ones, they hold a point of fresh blueberries and we buy them a lot.

Tupperware has always been a favorite product of mine and I have some pieces for years and years. They do help lettuce last longer

I was a dealer in the late '60's and I still have a lot of the original pieces. This Rubbermaid stuff for produce is a little different.

I am mildly curious how a box of plastic will new and improve my wilty greens.

It won't 'unwilt' anything. That's not the point of this. It will stop them from wilting.

@sallypup I dont know HOW it works, only that it does. It has a thing in the bottom so it keeps the food from sitting on the bottom, and has a vent on the lid. Stuff in there lasts way longer than you would expect. It wont unwilt stuff, but it will keep stuff fresh 4x longer or more

@AbbyGreenhill Ten years ago I would have asked my Mom. She was into salad spinners.

T upperware is very good for storing. I mostly got tupperwares when I was in my home country as they are cheap there.

Tupperware and Rubbermaid both make storage containers, but these new ones from Rubbermaid have built in air vents.
