A pet peeve of mine

I have several and I won't go into all of them. Today the one will air is at the top of my list for the moment. Receiving no cards for special occasions is not nice, but to my way of thinking receiving a card a day late is worse. It means the person only mailed the card because that is what one is supposed to do, not because the person really wanted to do it.
My husband's son wrote out the inside of the card but the address was written by the 'the wife'. It is a well known fact that Father's Day cards go on sale months ahead of the date, so there is no excuse such as "I forgot it was this Sunday!" I would bet dollars to donuts she didn't mail a card late to her father.
I made a point of leaving her a private message on Facebook (her favorite and only means of communicating with us) that the card was received Monday.
This wasn't the first time she did this and it won't be the last I'm sure.....I'll just add this to the mental list I'm compiling.

No, it happens all the time. She remembers clearly when she wants something.

I dont take this one too personally, for reasons like I had mail in my mailbox, flag up to go out last thurs. They missed it thurs. I put the flag back up, they missed it friday. they also did sat, and no mail runs sunday. Today I gave up and took it to the box downtown! I have also had mail get lost. Now if that person always sends stuff late that's one thing

We have a decent mail lady - two of them. If there is mail in the box they don't miss it. If they did I would take it to the post office. Always late, I sware it's on purpose.

@Jessicalynnt I've known this person long enough that I don't need to assume, I know.

@AbbyGreenhill it might be, then again, I tend to assume the best in everyone, I know often thats wrong, but it's just who I am

I guess everyone is affected differently by these things. My son is always a day late with his cards to us but it's always a beautiful card and I don't really have an issue with it. It shouldn't be any harder to get it to arrive in time though. I'll agree with you on that.

Because we aren't living near them we're the outsiders when it comes to relatives.

It is, but it seems to run in his family. His brother sends Christmas cards so they arrive the day after Christmas.

@AbbyGreenhill That definitely sounds like they're doing it on purpose. That is rude.

@BettyB totally agree. If it was 'once in a while' it would be different.

If his son is like him it would be late anyway LOL!

I agree, I like it when cards arrive before or exactly on the date of a holiday. It peeves me when they are late.

I mail Christmas cards by 12/1 - I want to make sure they get there and everyone expects them early now.

I don't blame you, there shouldn't have been any reason it wasn't sent out early enough to get there before Fathers day.

I agree, and since they have been together (8 years) the cards are always late.

Was your husband upset that his card came on Monday?

I didn't ask and he didn't say anything. It most likely bothers me far more than it does him.

I am perfectly happy to get a card early, late, or right on time. We don't have mail delivery so I might pick it up a few days later anyway.
If anyone is upset that my cards arrive late; I am afraid that is not going to affect me. Just not something that I could ever be concerned about.

It only concerns me when it comes to this particular person. I am never late, not for appointments or anything and I always mail cards early just in case. I'm not expecting a card from you so I don't really care if you mail your late LOL!
