About 10:00 a.m. today, I went at our backyard and saw many ripe papayas. This kind of papaya trees are hybrid that stands only 3 ft and bears many fruits and I was tempted to harvest some that was already ripe and ready for consumption. When I give my mother her lunch, I give her also a slice of papaya for her dessert. I'm happy that she consume her food fast because she likes the dessert. How about you friends, do you eat ripe papaya and like the taste of this fruit?

@Chungshop, yes, if strangers can see papaya that are not harvested and they have time to sneak it, am sure, the papaya and other fruits will be missing.

I also like it but not that much. HIHIHI My father also harvests our papaya in our backyard. But ours is the tall one. I prefer the almost ripe papaya. I dip it in salt and vinegar.

@ida123 Yup, I like the texture when it isn't that ripe yet. Hihihi When it's already ripe/overripe, it is already mushy, and sometimes I don't like the smell. Hahaha

@sunrisefan, yes, putting it in the refrigerator can make the papaya more yummy but don't put it in the freezer because when you eat it, it seems you eat a rotten papaya.

Papaya trees do not grow in Switzerland, but we import papaya fruits for consumption. Of course they are not as good as those freshly picked up, that I ate in the Caribbeans.

So you have someone who likes to eat also your papaya. Don't harvest it until fully ripe, you can pick it if already yellowish and wait for the time to be fully ripe.

@ida123 That's correct we pick it when the color changes to yellow. The crow is also watching the color change. Lol

I like red papaya. They taste is extraordinary. I remember when I was young, our grandparents lived with us before they migrated to the US. My grandfather planted a lot of papaya trees in our backyard and every meal he would have a slice or two or papayas. It was his favourite fruit.
