It's so gross, it drives all of us nuts. My sister in law will go months with out taking a shower or bath. It's supper gross ans she smells disgusting all of the time. You know it's so bad that you think it's one of your kids but it's not. We can always tell, when she has finally taken a bath because she smells nice like really nice. But many she needs to take a bath or something ans if we say something. She gets really upset and likes just say a capital B fits the situation . I don't know how my brother can sleep next to her all night and not throw up.

Maybe she was not getting bathed when she was still a child, that is why she abhors bathing?

i don't understand what you said. Do you mean you think she doesn't like bathing because she does like it she just doesn't ans the same with her vlothes will wear the same thing for days or even weeks before taking the, off and changing. My poor kids sMel like her when she hugs them so gross.

@Yar_Joey no that 's not is she loves the water. I hate the water that sounds like something that she be me and my 3.5 year son. we don't like bathing but we do it regularly and we freak out about as well. But she on the other hands likes baths she just doesn't take them nearly that often.

@ShyBear88 What I mean is...maybe when she was still a small child, she did not like to tak a bath that is why until now that she is already an adult, she does not like to take a bath.

She is 32 years olds depressed wouldn't know unless she sees a doctor. But I would say probably because she was on antidepressants way before having my nephew ans that was like 9 years ago. She refuses any help.

@ShyBear88 She definitely needs some kind of help. Her husband should insist or talk to someone himself and ask for options.

@ramapo17 He wouldn't talk to anyone. My parents see someone about her all of the time.

@Hatley 5 minutes you can wash your body and your hair in that time frame. I don't take very long showers but I like to soak in the tub.

Oh my gosh! I feel so bad for him If I don't shower a day, I get irritated. I understand you cannot bath for a shower in our tradition after giving birth, but you can clean yourself with damp cloth.

You can shower after having a baby but no baths for up to 6 to 8 weeks because that helps keep infection out as well as the fac that you might have stitches. Medically you are not suppose to bath every day it's every other day which is better for your skin.

@ShyBear88 Ah yes! But what I meant is in my family tradition, we aren't allowed to shower, or step foot in the shower/bath. Just clean yourself with a damp cloth for a month. I never had a child yet so I don't know but it's like a tradition in our family. I feel icky if I don't shower daily, but I don't shower my hair daily.

@infatuatedbby we don't have that. We take a shower or bath every other day or so not with a damp towel to me that's not washing or getting clean since soap and water is to me. A quick shower like that isn't bad if you need to get some what clean but she doesn't even do that. She stays in the same clothes for days or even weeks before change them. Which is also gross.

Yeah she doesn't like that answer for sure. She has ADHD, a learning disability of some sort, and has anxiety. Let's just say she hasn't been on medication in 10 years since she was pregnant with my nephew. She needs to see a doctor but won't and my brother just won't try and make her go. It's totally gross.

@yukimori I don't think people think of adult protective services I don't think she would take help and you can't force anyone to do anything they don't want to do unless by the count they find her unsound which is is pretty sound. If someone wants help they will ask if they don't they will never change and she will never change because she don't feel things are wrong with her. So by law we can't do anything.

@ShyBear88 You know, that's kind of the point where APS (Adult Protective Services) should be called. None of the things you mentioned should have that sort of impact on a person's hygiene from what I understand. She really needs help.

That is gross! I can't imagine not having taking a bath. Specially in summer time, where you sweat a lot. Maybe your brother is already accustomed to the smell, it doesn't bother him?

@ShyBear88 gosh.. have you not talk to her in private? Maybe ask her why she isn't taking a bath. How about if there are visitors? Doesnt she present herself well?

We use to have a lady like that who came in our store. She wasn't homeless or without the means to bathe, she just wouldn't. She also would wear the same clothes for weeks at a time. She had a white fake fur coat she wore in the winter and it was black from dirt. When she finally took a bath she also washed her coat, that is the only way we knew it was actually white and not a gray looking black one!

Nope no fear of water. I'm scared of water so I don't take one a bath or shower every day but every few days because it gets stressful. But she loves water she doesn't even bath my nephew that often unless my parents say something or they take my nephew and give him a bath. She tries to give him one every couple of days so my parents don't get on her about my nephew.

I think your sis in law is sick as I have never heard of anyone staying without a bath for months. If I skip just one day for any reason that makes me uncomfortable.

@ShyBear88 Depends on the climate. Here we do not have cold weather and so we need to bathe everyday.

@allknowing climate has nothing to do with. Our bodies not matter what the temp is needs to be a little dirty. I can go being sweaty with out a shower or bath for a day or two. I use to play soccer and got plenty of sweat happen in those days didn't always feel like showering all of the time so I didn't. Still don't always with my kids. With kids I'm just tired to. At least they get baths every other day. I find time some where in there to do it myself.

handicap no or she would have someone helping her. she has a learning disability but that doesn't disable her from doing things on her own or understand things for that matter. I have a learning disability that is close to hers. She is also ADHD has anxiety and is says she use to have depression before she was pregnant with my nephew 9 years ago.

@ramapo17 my nephew is autistic, he doesn't like baths but is okay with showers. He loves the water so much he goes to swim once a week. My parents when they are home look after him as much as they can. I help out when we go over which is nearly daily because my kids are like his siblings.

When I was younger, people would associate people who don't take a bath often, with goats. Generally, goats are afraid of the rain and seek shelter when it rains.

I would throw up. I take a shower every other day and I make sure my boyfriend takes one as well. I just don't see how people can just not take showers. I like the feeling of being clean and the smell of being clean. You are a better sister in law than I am because I would spray her down with a water hose and some dish soap or she wouldn't be allowed to be around me, my kids, or in my house.

Lol, she doesn't come to my house. She lives with my parents and they try to tell her and even have my brother tell her shower more often or something it's gross you smell bad. My kids don't like being close to her but that's just in general she isn't the smartest crayon in the box.

@ShyBear88 I wouldn't blame them for not wanting to be around her if she smells so bad. I would probably gag or throw up when I was around her.
