Waiting on a Download

I am currently working on my laptop (new as of yesterday). The laptop was a gift to myself. I used some of the money I got for selling back 98 days of sick time. I wanted a laptop to take with us when we travel and for when I go to writer’s groups. Unfortunately, I spent most of yesterday fighting with the virus protection program. I had a lot of trouble downloading it. It wasn’t the program, but my exhaustion. I had no trouble downloading it this morning. I thought I was good to go and logged onto my main computer. I wanted to upload the picture of the quilt I made. No such luck. PhotoShop was acting up. It has been doing that a lot lately. I finally decided it was time to upgrade. Download time-six hours and thirty minutes. To make sure your computer doesn’t go into sleep mode, you have to relog in every fifteen minutes. I have five hours and fifty-four minutes to go. So I’m using my laptop. Sadly-no pictures.

I use Photoshop as I need it for some of my other projects. I upload pictures from my cell and then edit them on Photoshop. It's the newest Photoshop that is currently downloading. I'm ready for it to be done.

@acelawrites Have you tried emailing your photos to yourself? With good practice, that works quite well for me.

This is the longest download I've ever had to deal with. Part of it is the 2000 pictures I have on my computer. They have to transfer them over to the new program.

Ugh-it seems like a huge complicated mess when we first try to get such things up and running. Hope by now you have figured out how to avoid the 'sleep mode' issue.

The sleep mode is not an issue. It's the site that is requiring the relog every fifteen minutes. I have 57 minutes to go. If it messes up the last step...

I know how frustrating it is when your machine is not working the way it should. Enjoy your laptop!

It's an indulgence but one I refuse to feel bad about. We're heading to NYC on Monday for 2 weeks. My husband likes to sleep in. I would go nuts without a computer to fill my time.

I can share with you in this painful experience. We recently, about 3 weeks ago, bought a new laptop. It isn't totally loaded yet either. And we second guess a lot of what happens in this windows 10 environment as it isn't near as friendly as our windows 7 was. Downloading our anti virus was almost a whole day.

I miss Windows 7. It was the best operating system. I have ten on both my computers. I'm used to it, but I still prefer Windows 7

I don't know a lot about computers, but I thought you could choose how long a time it is before it goes to sleep? That must be a real nuisance having to keep relogging every 15 minutes.

I can but its the website that is requiring the log ins. It should be done soon. Then I won't have to worry about it anymore.

I'm clueless when it comes to technology. We had the geek install our new computer, yesterday and take care of everything. My hubby is just as clueless.

@BettyB I hear you! Our younger son gets the calls from us, too, but he is so busy at work and spends his nights with his fiancé. He does have to hook up the wireless printer we bought. Hoo boy!

I can do the basics but when I run into trouble, I call my oldest son. He knows his way around computers and electronics.

That would be a pain having to relog every 15 minutes. It might seem a long six hours.

Really lot of time . This much of time for download? I do not have that much of patience. For me, things should move fast. If they do not, the I move.

How is it going, so far, now? Usually, virus protection softwares are the most annoying computer-police there ever existed in the web. They slow down computers like forever. My husband explained quite a bit to me. I've had Lenovo ThinkPad Series since 2007, and it outlived each of my family's adult member's personal laptops. . My husband chose it for me on my birthday.

You've had that one for a long time. My desktop is only six years old. I use the computer a lot so six years is good. I'm hoping it will last another ten. I hate getting used to a new one.
