The last time I went to Aruba I had to change plane either in Panama or in Bogota. The people took out the suitcase from one plane and left it under a tropical rain for some tiime. Fortunatly I opened the suitcase as soon as I reached home and I could wash again everything and take the suitcase to the sun so it wouldn´t get mold. Now I learned that I have to place every garment in a plastic bag. On the way back I don´t mind. I can take care of it all. Have you had this kind of problems on a trip?

That's a good idea to bring plastic bags

I will place every garment in a plastic bag. Then, later on, they can be used to bring back dirty things for the washing machine.

I had some fun cycling into the USA once at the border crossing. "What do you do for a living?" "I'm a woodworker." "Carrying any tools of your trade with you?" Are you freaking kidding me? I'm riding a bicycle. Do I look like I'm carrying a tablesaw? They sent me to get inspected. The inspector noticed that I was kind of wet and smelly from riding through a rain storm earlier in the day and had no desire to go fishing through my packs. He just told me to get going. I thought it was funny. Everything in my packs was fresh and clean.

You have been lucky. I have had this problem, have had opened suitcases and others that had been sent elsewhere for some days.

I guess we haven't often gone to small airports where luggage gets left in the rain so it hasn't happened to us.

I don´t remember. But the airport in Panama City is a lot smaller than the one in Bogota.

I suppose it depends if you change planes and where.
