On our last day of the mission trip, one of the men from the mission drove us out about 45 minutes and took us on a hike to the top of a Mesa to see some Anasazi Indian Ruins. These ruins aren't known by many and not many have seen them, or even know they exist. He guessed maybe 200 people have even seen them. He said we were the first group he's taken up there, and he doesn't plan on taking any other groups up there. It was about 8500 feet up the Mesa. I didn't think I could make it but was encouraged to try. I really did want to go and see them as I don't expect to have this opportunity again. Since these ruins aren't a tourist attraction, they are untouched by man. It was too cool! All around the structure that you see Hanna, Allen, and Myself standing by, there were rocks in circles. Our "guide" told us that all of those places were their homes at one time. I picked up some pieces of pottery. Something we wouldn't have found in a tourist attraction. Just a little history on the Anasazi Indians: Researchers and historians attribute their tribe to the fascinating cliff Pueblos that you see in the four corners areas in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah (The reservation with the mission was 21 miles from Four Corners) They are also known as the ancient people. They appeared right around the time of Christ's birth. Their tribe just disappeared in the 13th century. Their total disappearance is still a mystery today.

I wonder if the kids were as impressed as you were. That is quite a piece of history to get to visit.
