There was an Old Country Buffet restaurant my children and I visited for years. It was their favorite go to place for celebrating. It closed down a few months ago and so I told my children that during the summer we would go on a road trip to whichever of their locations was closest. We decided to go eat there last night. It wound up being 90 miles away. It was a long drive but nice scenery. We got there and were very disappointed. Many of the plates had food dried on and stuck on top. All of the bottoms of the plates were sticky and many of the bowls for soup had food dried on as well. If that wasn't enough there were fruit flies buzzing around our plates as we ate. I really did not want to eat there as soon as I saw that but we drove such a long way and were starving I thought my children would be upset if we decided not to eat there. It took even longer to get home as the gps routed us many miles out of the way...as usual. It has been over 24 hours now and none of us have gotten sick so I guess that is good. When I was driving I was thinking about one of our mylotters here @Blondie2222 who is having health problems and likes when she is able to frequent the casino I drove past.

You kept your promise to your kids, and you survived. The scenery was nice. You have a good reason NOT to do it again.

It is disappointing to have to drive more miles due to the misleading indications of the navigators. I turn it off when we know our way.

Me too but I have never been in this town before so I did not know my way. I also have a very bad sense of direction.

@LadyDuck That is lucky then that at least one of you has a great sense of direction. My late husband had just as bad a sense of direction as I do.

The food at least was as we remembered it. I hate their food but my kids like it especially the desserts.

Or the things I do for my children who do not understand yet to appreciate what I do for them. I think someday they will look back and remember all this with fond memories.

I use to go there with my grandparents. It was one of their favorite places. Sadly it wounds like that restaurant is poor in there cleanliness. Glad none of you have gotten sick. Have a blessed day

My parents loved going there as well. So far we still aren't sick so I think we are in the clear!
