What did we do years ago when we didn't have the internet to help us with every question that comes our way. I am always on the internet looking for answers for this or that. I usually look for a few answers for one question so I can decide for myself which is the way I want to go. Are you like me and search the internet are do you find other ways to find answers for things?

Year ago it was the library and their card catalog. I would be helpless now without the Internet.

I know, me too. Just the fact of looking everything up. No wonder our homework took forever to get done.

@just4him I wonder how quiet the libraries are these days.

@ramapo17 I spent nights in the library as a kid.

Depends on the information you seek. I used to use those archaic things called books that answered questions in depth rather than in internet quick bites. If a book and PC are side by side, I can find the answer swifter in a book than online.

I am just the opposite. At least we both get the answers we want.

If I was doing true scholarly research, I would go to a reference book. The Internet is for quick answers to life's little questions.

Before I got my own computer I wasn't all that stimulated to learn new things, other than what I'd read in a novel or magazine, but this whole experience with the web has turned my brain into a sponge, it just wants to know soooo much.

@rebelann It really is fun plus educational. When I start looking for one thing I can end up going from one to another and in that time I might have learned many things I was not even looking for.

You are right. I look up so much stuff when I hear something I do not understand and I might not ever use it again but at least I learned a little more than I knew before that.

Gone are the days when you would have to trawl through encyclopedias to find out answers. The internet has opened up the world to nearly every question you could ever want an answer to. I love it but get far too engrossed in finding things out which leads from one thing to another and then another etc.I must admit I love it.

I admit I spend so much time on here as, like you said, one thing leads to another and then another and then it is time to go to bed.

More and more I go to the internet. At one time I'd want to know something and I'd forget about the internet but it seems there is nothing that can't be found here.

And it is faster than researching it some place else.

I do use the internet a lot but I still go to my old school ways as my kids put it because I still go to my books. I always joke with my kids and tell them one of these times we are going to do school the old school way like mommy and daddy had to for a week and since I homeschool my kids I could, lol. They ask us all the time what school was like for us they say stuff like OMG!!! did you guys live in the dark ages, or something. Seriously, lol.

Right, me too. And remember how long it took just to find the right books we needed.

Yes, I am constantly checking this fact and that one. Beats going to the library and checking those micro fiches.

We used to look things up in encyclopedias. Guess no one does that now.

All the time I look up things. It is certainly easier than using the encyclopedias I grew up with. Have a blessed day
