Reviewing While Watching - Interstellar

I had high hopes for the movie Interstellar before I watched it, but now that I've sat through most of it I can say with assurance how glad I am that I didn't spend the money to watch it at a theater. This is by far the most boring Science Fiction movie I have ever seen. It may not be the most boring Science Fiction movie ever made, but if there is a more boring one I know nothing about it. I've sat through the whole movie to this point, and it is only now, in the fading minutes, able to hold my interest. Oops, nope, boring again. Slightly interesting, now. Not sure the physics would work. It will be interesting to see how they resolve the seemingly impossible situation our intrepid space explorers find themselves in. I'm sure it will be a little boy fell out of bed and woke up ending.

I never cared for director Christopher Nolan whom I consider overrated. Good cast but Anne Hathaway in a space suit doesn't cut it lol! I have never liked this kind of space movies like this or Gravity.

I know many will disagree but I don't rate anne hathaway very highly as an actor.

@Mike197602 Hathaway is an average actress despite her Oscar and its mainly her pleasing screen persona and appearance.

I thought I'd seen that film but I haven't as I get mixed up between sci fi films. Thought interstellar was the one with tom cruise but after looking it up that was oblivion, I didn't like that film. The one I want to see and haven't yet is the matt damon one where he's on mars as I've read the book it was based on...book is a bit rubbish but interesting in places. I think oblivion was based on a book too. I won't bother watching interstellar if it is boring.

The Martian is good. I liked it, but I haven't read the book. I have a soft spot for Matt Damon which may be a bit worrying and make me a little biased! I quite enjoyed Interstellar, but I also liked Oblivion so ... :)

@Poppylicious The book is ok but I didn't like the writing style although it was 4 or 5 years ago that I read it so maybe I should give it another try. It read like a below par self published job with a very poor editor.

I was also frustrated by this movie as well and its waste of money buying the DVD copy.

Sounds like it was a real disappointment. 'A small boy falling out of bed' ending will be even more disappointing.

I kept waiting for it to get better, and it never did. And they did a poor job explaining relativity and why when the MC returned to Earth his young daughter was an old lady.

You're welcome. I wish someone had warned me. It was like watching a collision between Space Odyssey:2001 and the Disney movie the Black Hole, with disappointing results.

I love science fiction movies. The problem is they screw 90 percent of them up with bad acting or story telling. I think SyFy is getting close though. I love that new show "Dark Matter." They also have some fairly decent ones in 12 Monkeys and Helix. I do think Helix was better in season one though. Continuum and Mr Robot are awesome also, but not sure if they started out on SyFy I know they are not movies but it is a start. I never really worried about the physics because the stories are so far out there.Physics goes out the window.

I agree, I saw that and thought the same thing about how boring it was.

So, it is one we have to watch to the end to know if we wanted to watch it?

I really miss the days of Stanley Kubrick, Arthur C. Clarke and Jules Verne to name a few.

I quite liked Interstellar. Yes, there were bits in it which were a bit odd or unbelievable, but it was a 'nice' film. :)
