Dallas/cops/racism and hatred

I like everyone else have been constantly hearing about what's been happening, especially in Dallas. I'm sick of all of the hatred coming from every direction from all different races. I'm sick of everyone going at each other's throats. I'm tired of the cop hate. Yes there are racist police officers, yes there are power drunk police officers, but there are more good cops than bad. It's not OK to threaten or wish death upon anyone PERIOD. Skin color doesn't matter. I have never agreed that racism was a black thing, I think it's a human thing plain and simple. Hating anyone for the color of their skin based on the actions of a handful of people in my opinion is racism. I'm not here to start a debate. I'm here to say stop hating on each other. Stop fueling the fire, stop putting a divide between us all. Stop slinging the insults. I'm sick of it. Stop hating police officers, most of them do their jobs and keep us safe. Violence against police officers who had nothing to do with those deaths is doing absolutely nothing. People constantly blame police officers for everything, never thinking about what it must be like to walk a mile in their shoes. They go out everyday and put their lives on the line to help people. Imagine what life without police officers would be like. They go out everyday and protect the very people who complain about them and wish death upon them. I have a sister who is a police officer, and a brother who is a part time police officer. I worry about their safety. I know several police officers and they're all good people. Several of those police officers who have wives/husbands and children at home who would miss them if they didn't come home. Racism is only a problem because we keep pitting ourselves against each other. Color shouldn't even matter. I am tired of how it tears us apart and separates us. The truth is ISIS doesn't need to come after us, we'll do it ourselves. I've seen the good in people, I know it exists, but for some reason a lot of us ignore it and focus on the bad. You can be outraged without violence. Anymore there can't be a peaceful protest, because there's usually some fool who shows up with a gun or something and ruins it. Honestly it all just has to stop. Stop going after each other, by arguing with one another we're just feeding into it. Every time you argue or spend your time letting the hatred take over you you're giving racists that much more power. Every time you sling an insult you're part of the problem. Every time you defend any form of hatred you're part of the problem. Stop stereotyping, stop placing blame, stop the hatred. Don't take part in it. Just suck it up and stop letting it eat away at you. It's so easy to give in and sling insults or defend the actions of others, but when you do that you're just fueling it more. I saw a lot of things I didn't like today reading comments, and I almost commented and then stopped myself. I'm tired of it. I'm tired of people spreading hate. I can't spend my life feeling hatred towards people I don't even know. I can just do my part by stop letting others get to me, because at the end of the day all that matters is that I go on with my life feeling love and not hate. I don't want to give in and be like everyone else. I won't defend hate. Stop making this black vs. white and make this about being human and learning to love and accept one another, or at the very least stop hating each other and throwing threats and accusations at each other.

Thank you for suggesting it M.-L. :) And if you would care to explain what that German saying means.

@vandana7 It means that God should hear about your wishes and then - hopefully - make them come true. In simple English, it would be, "Let's hope so."

People who makes it a racial dispute is a race thing. Black Lives Matter is ironically stereotyping themselves and are often the first to hurl racial insults. I agree with you and what you have posted is pure common sense which everyone should follow but as we all know. Common sense aint that common

IDK, it's so easy to make racial insults without even trying. Everyone is super sensitive over everything. I try not to let things eat away at me and take everything personal. I might be upset for a minute, but then I move on with my life. I can't control people or the comments they make, I just know I can't and won't take part in it. I have in the past, but I realized just how crazy it is. All we keep doing is dividing ourselves. You're right though common sense really isn't that common, and it's not something you can really teach.

We have such issues too..and I haven't the right answers. All I can say is, much depends upon the bringing up, and people who exhibit such tendencies need to be exposed early on so that they do not end up with licensed weapons.

I agree. If we teach our children better they will be better people. The only problem with that is a lot of the people causing the issues are also bringing up their children to hate. Hate brings about more hate.

Well said. Competition is part and parcel of living, but hatred leading to a desire to dominate at all costs is where society begins to crumble... Not sure what the answer is, though, as pacifism is not healthy either. Thanks @MALUSE for suggesting this, an interesting read.

Thank you. There's nothing wrong with competition as a whole, but to be honest this isn't even about competing with one another. It's not even about what one person has. It's about using stereotypes as a reason to hate. "Black people are thugs" or "White people are racists" it's stereotypes that fuel it. We take every bad thing committed by one race and use it against the whole group. The insults flying around right now are the very reason hate still exists. People think we haven't evolved since MLK but we have (well in some ways). We're not fighting about wanting to go the same school and etc. heck I'm pretty sure right now a lot of people want that. They want us to separate and divide the races up, it's like everything MLK worked for was for nothing. There needs to be a neutral ground where we don't go killing everyone in sight, but we also don't stand and be beaten because we refuse to fight. Part of me can see where some competition comes in, but most of it isn't. We're looking at skin color, which to me is just that. It's a description. There shouldn't be any barriers. We're all human. We put up those barriers ourselves. The only reason we even still hate one another is because we all believe the things that are said without actually getting to know one another.

Thank you. Glad you agree. Too bad more people don't. If people could just agree to drop the stereotypes and come together as human beings we'd all be better off.

I've seen things saying "Black Lives Matter." I've seen others saying "Blue Lives Matter." Why not just go with "Lives Matter." Period.

I agree. People are freaking out over the whole "All lives matter" thing, but honestly they all do. It's not about turning it around, it's about caring in general. We should just stop pitting ourselves against each other and start getting along. Drop the blame and the hate, and do our best to get along.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Some people have their agendas they advance by escalating the hate. It's truly sad and will destroy us as a nation if it keeps up. What's wrong isn't skin color. It's what's in the human heart. Some people get their significance by thinking they are superior to others or by fighting for a cause -- any cause. I believe we are all equal in the sight of God and that none of us should feel superior to anyone else because of any physical condition or characteristic. I have seen plenty of racial harmony in the churches I've attended as we learned to get to know each other as we worked and worshiped side by side. When you know another human being, you do judge by character, not skin color or eye color or ethnic background. I've known good and bad people all all skin colors. I've known hurting people of all skin colors. No race has a monopoly on misery or happiness. I have heard some people advocating getting rid of police, which would lead to anarchy. I have also heard the Dallas chief of police invite the protesters to apply to be policemen so they can be sent into their own communities to police them. I'm wondering how many will actually accept that invitation. Many just like to complain and protest, but not really solve the problem by getting involved in a constructive way.

Thank you, and I agree. If we learned to judge people by who they are as people and not by skin color it would solve a lot of problems. People do want to stand around and judge, but they don't want to solve the problem. Using violence and hatred against violence and hatred does absolutely nothing. We will never get anywhere as long as we continue to stereotype people. Racism comes in because we base an entire ethnicity, or culture by the actions of a handful. It works that way with any group including police officers. Not all black people are bad, not all black people are good either, the same with white people and police officers and any group you can think of. Honestly no one person is all good or bad. Even the crappiest people in the world are capable of doing good, whether they do good or not is a different story, but they're capable of it.

@bagarad Agreed. I hope in the future more people will choose good over bad, but currently that doesn't seem to be the case.

It all comes down to intolerance in my opinion. Intolerance of other people's religion, colour, opinions etc. We need to practise acceptance instead. Thank you for suggesting this @MALUSE

You're right. It is intolerance. It always comes back to not understanding one another. Stereotypes play a big part in it.

@lookatdesktop I remember when Where is the Love? Came out. I loved it then and I love it now. I almost forgot about it until you shared it. It is perfectly sums up things going on now. I'm glad you shared it, brought memories of me listening to it back in the day when I was feeling down, and I thought things were bad then.
