Should the US Declare War Against ISIS?

I'm watching CNN and Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is being interviewed about the possibility of declaring war on ISIS. She's talking about how this is a very different kind of war and how people liken it to World War 3. Do you think the USA should declare an all out war on ISIS and go into Syria to fight them on the ground? Or would that just make things worse?

This doesn't make much sense to me. ISIS is not a country, and is not in one location. Our next door neighbors may be affiliated with ISIS. They are everywhere. How do you declare war on that???

totally agree. as a military force ISIS are nothing. their ideology is another thing altogether. You can't declare war on that in military terms as they are already within your own borders.

@Mike197602 .. Like weapons, we need to have ideology versus ideology....you can't fight AK-47 vs. swords...like that, using AK-47 versus ideology is only going to create more anger and fresh set of murderers.

@Mike197602 Absolutely! How do you declare war on that? Impossible.

Syria? ISIS has cells everywhere. Its unclear what they're fighting for. The just seem like frustrated people who want to violate all reasonable moral/religious teachings and kill whomever they can.

What is with American Politicians and their want for war? I don't understand it. No, war isn't the answer. In fact, I think WAR is what the ISIS people want, would that not feed their ignorance and reason for hating us?

Maybe USA declares all out war with the ISIS but not to be known to public to avoid misconception by others that WW3 started that caused them to panic.

A world war means nation states at war...ISIS is not a nation state it is an ideology....and a few fighters in very specific areas.

Ground troops are a bad idea. Best thing if the US was to do anything would be step up air strikes. There are enough fighters on the ground to defeat ISIS as a military force. The main problem is their ideology and the amount of people trained by them. War won't work the only thing that will is increased border controls and increased surveillance of suspected radicals.

ISIS is one of the potential threat to world's security. It has many sleeper cells in many countries around the world and can explode anytime they want. Fighting them alone in Iraq and Syria will not yield any result. US and its alliance has to make a picture perfect plan to counter this threat.

Jesus Christ. I'm beginning to wonder about people? "People that liken it to ww3? Did she actually say that? In my opinion isis is not a country. It isn't even a state. A different kind of conflict for certain but not anything like a war. For countries that are actually countries with governmental bodies discussion should be of prime interest first. Countries declare war not groups.

I think the US created them, so I think the war talk is a front. That's why nothing has really been done against them. That's also why it's a felony to go over seas to fight them (through volunteering in another army or strike force). If you do, you are branded a terrorist.
