I have no idea what prompted The Man to turn on the movie "Minions" this morning. Early this morning. We've seen it before. It's early morning. And he's just paused it so he can go make his toast. Why? We've seen it before and none of the dialogue can be understood anyway. It's all high-pitched babbling of disconnected syllables. What could you miss? I have no idea how I managed to get up early on Saturday mornings and watch "Alvin and the Chipmunks". Must be an age thing. I am certifiably curmudgeonly old. No squeaking at me on Saturday morning before coffee.
I was going to turn on Sky News to check on what's going on in Turkey. I suppose that's not any more sensible than babbling minions. In fact, most of those who comment on current events are babbling minions.
The world's on fire. Terrorism, war, military coups, reality TV - it's getting serious out there. Meanwhile, people are falling off cliffs while taking selfies and walking off cliffs while looking for Pokemon and filling their earbuds with iTunes so they can't see or hear any of it. The world's on fire and no one is paying any attention.
Saturday mornings used to be so simple. A bowl of cereal, cartoons, commercials about toys that were too fabulous to even dream of owning. Now it's the death tallies from the various atrocities around the world. The latest and most updatest on death served up by news DJs, who spin the headlines like top 40 song titles. Yeah, I know updatest is not a word, but it rhymes, baby.
The minions are looking for some evil and dastardly leader. That's what they do. Naturally. They are minions, willing and able to carry out the evil plans of anyone who will give them a sense of purpose.
Maybe it's the right movie for today.

I would be up for watching minions, Anja! LOL! (I am laying here myLotting and eating cold pizza. It's meat lovers, if you want a piece.)
Isn't it great how even the villains have found a way to make their presence known to us around the world?
Instead of stealing the moon, they go out and kill families peacefully watching fireworks or walking down the street...
Why can't all the violence just stay on tv and in the movies
? I can handle that! SMH!

@Rollo1 LOL! I just pop it into the microwave long enough to take the chill off the cheese. By the time I finish a slice, it is cold again.
Yes, we are the villains.
It is not that we can't/don't recognize evil, IMHO.... It is that we are all trying to be too pc about everything. If you aren't pc, then people try to paint you as the villain!
There should be a way that we can either be pc but still do something immediately about the villains or we can drop being pc, take care of the villains and then go back to being pc without being labeled a villain ourselves. (Some people really have their priorities backward!)

Ah, Saturday morning. My favourite childhood moment. I shall just enjoy the nostalgia of this and ignore the bad bits.

I haven't seen Minions. I know, I'm one in a billion who haven't seen it. I saw the news about Turkey in passing yesterday and my thoughts were 'here we go again'. I don't know which way to turn my head these days as everywhere I look something worse is happening. It would really be nice to turn the clock back to the early morning cartoons and eat our bowl of cereal and watch all the Hasbrow commercials.

I think that ISIS has found plenty of minions all over the world. Scary isn't it.

The world certainly seems to be spinning out of control.

The Teletubbies might be worse though. Yeah I don't hardly listen to the news anymore. I usually found out stuff though Bing.
