My old man cat must be losing his hearing

I just love my old man cat. He is 13 years old and still the light of my life. I bottle-fed him from the age of 4 weeks old and I just love him to bits. I've had him longer than I've known my husband but only by a few months. We both spoil him quite a lot. Anyway, as he has gotten older he has gotten increasingly terrified of thunder and fireworks. Any sign/sound of either of them and he hightails it to the closet in a back room to hide for several hours until all signs of impending doom have long since passed. Thoughtless neighbors on the next block over just shot off fireworks and they made quite a racket. My old man is asleep next to me on a chair and he didn't stir at all. He must be losing his hearing because that normally would have had him up, down the hall, and in the closet after the first burst. Ah, well, he is 13. I guess he is entitled to some hearing loss.

Other than her eye sight she is healthy though.

It's sad when our pets get old, but it could have some benefits in this case - he won't get frightened any more.

I think it is justifiable at his age. I hope my Rose will reach such age range.

Fire works are fiery for almost all cats. Bonding such a long years of friendship is really appreciable and due to age he may affect some hearing loss.

I guess the good thing, if he is getting deaf, is that loud noises won't seem so loud and hopefully won't bother him so much.

Aww, my mum's cat is going deaf too - he's about 15 but it doesn't bother him at all so mum doesn't stress about it (he hears his bowl being put down at dinner time well enough!)
