Another project? Oh No!

As many of you know, I am something of a clothes horse and am a compulsive buyer of expensive clothing. I suppose you could call me metrosexual, at least by Montana standards.
Just last week, I spent fully $19 on a new pair of Wrangler shorts. A few months before that, I spent $29 on a pair of highly fashionable (and quite comfortable) Fila sneakers. I believe they're called running shoes these days.
Much to my disappointment, the upper part of the sole separated from the side on one of them. I thought about what I have here, and decided to see if I could repair them with the hot glue gun I use for attaching speaker grille cloths to speaker frames.
Do you think I will succeed? Are you a clothes horse as well? If I succeed with this project, I might celebrate by buying a couple of extra $6 black t-shirts at Target.

It might just work!
Let us know if it was a success (hot glue to repair the shoes)! But you may need the fabric glue?

They don't make them like they use to, tennis champions use to wear them and they last a very long time. I have had similar problems with what were suppose to be good reliable brands
anyway my method is to apply contact cement on both sides, let it dry a little bit then clamp the shoe on my vise overnight ar at times more than 24hrs.

@TheHorse yes it has to be clamped and for those reading and don't have one, they could use heavy books placed one on top of the other to pin the shoe.
There seems to be a lot of "class A" knock offs these days and it's very hard to tell between the genuine, scary thing is if they find their way to legit shops, the same problem happened to me with my Oakley tactical boots.

I think gorilla glue might be a better fit but maybe. I am an absolute clothing horse.

So, were you successful? I don't know whether I'd call spending less than thirty dollars on shoes and twenty on jean shorts to be related to purchasing expensive clothing. Or, are you being facetious? I've had to buy seventy dollar shoes, but I usually can get them for about forty dollars. More than what I like to spend, but I've bought a lot of shoes in the past ten years and many didn't fit for very long. If I have to spend a bit more to get ones I can wear for a few years, I'm doing good.

Nineteen bucks for a pair of shorts? That's outrageous!

I just used Gorilla Glue a couple of weeks ago to repair three pairs of shoes I have that were falling apart. So far, after three weeks, the glue is still holding strong!

@TheHorse I've got two pairs of shoes that I used gorilla glue on, and they're both still holding strong, even after 6 months.

If I can repair stuff, then I will. I had some shoes I wanted to repair, but I couldn't repair them so I ended up buying new ones.

@JESSY3236 Heh heh. I'm a creature of habit. My shopping sprees are mostly at LL bean, Target and Big Five sports.
