Now Don't You Tell Anyone I Told You This...
"Gus is messing around over there on the MyLot thing. I kid you not. I got that straight from the one with the user name, 'Velvet Snail'."
----- "You don't say? Some things are mighty hard to believe."
"Yeah, well Gus has a way of doing stuff that sane folks, like you and like me, do our digging-best to avoid. Last week Gus told me that he was heading on over to the political convention - said that they were going to give away little paper hats and those blow-whistles where the paper thing shoots out and then it makes some kind of noise."
----- "Oh boy ! That's what that crazy Gus did last year, too - went to a political convention. No paper hats and no blow-whistles. Gus said the only thing he got from last year's political convention was a pimple on his bottom from sitting on a wooden seat in the 90-degree heat. You going to tell me that stuff from 'Velvet Snail' or not?"
"I was going to do that, all right, but my mind got sidetracked by all of this stuff about conventions, paper hats, blow-whistles, and pimples. It's not that easy to concentrate on things with all of that side-tracking."
----- "There's Gus, over near the fence. Looks like he just dug himself a fresh hiding hole. I suppose I could go on over and ask him, direct like...'
And that's the way it goes whenever you try to get the straight skinny of what is going on in this wacky world. One good rumor is always as good as any other good rumor, and those are never nearly as much fun to hear than are the bad rumors. Furthermore, political conventions are mostly where all of the rumors actually start.

Heard those paper hats are actually mind-control mechanisms and that is the government's way of mind manipulation and hypnosis of the general public?!!!

@allen0187 - Howdy Allen - Someone must have spilled the secret to you. Special ink is used to print stuff onto those paper hats. Sweating transfers the words straight to the brains of those wearing the hats. Quite the system...

@Ceerios Well Gus it confirmed my suspicions. Heard that the best way to battle these mind-control paper hats is to wear aluminum foil around one's head. No mind control paper hat can take over you when you have an aluminum-covered head!

@allen0187 - Wrapping yourhead in aluminum foil would probably serve to counter those mind control paper hats but for one thing... the wand you at the entrance (like at airports, etc.) and that aluminum metal would set the wand's alarm to screaming... so that you'd never get inside to pick up your free paper hat.

@LadyDuck - Ms Anna - I carry a little "spy camera" in my shirt pocket. It works fairly well, although it was produced right at the beginning of the digital camera revolution. No flash lamp with it, but it works reasonably nicely in regular indoor lighting. The biggest problem with this gadget is that when you remove its batteries, all of your stored images disappear. (Gotta start somewhere I suppose, and I have had some fun with this little camera) Here's a picture of the thing.

@LadyDuck - Ms Anna - There is an old saying about such matters. As I recall, that saying goes something like this: " A pimple a day keeps the doctor in pay and the usual at bay..." or something of that nature. Right now, though, I have to find where I parked my paper hat and noise maker blow-whistle thing.

@jaboUK - Ms Janet - Well now, I wrote out a nice reply to you welcome comment but, somehow, I zapped it. (Gotta train my pinkie fingers better...) thanks for liking the two little prairie dogs sharing a secret. Pixabay is a real treasure.

@bunnybon7 - If there is one kind of person whom the entire world appreciates, it is an agreeable person.
