The other day I received word that a friend of mine had a stroke and was now in a Rehab Center. Yesterday I was finally able to get there to find out just how he was doing. They won't tell you on the phone.
Apparently he had a bad stoke that effected his left side. He cannot use his left hand and arm, walk because of his left leg and cannot talk.
I am so sorry that he is so bad. He is so frustrated and uncooperative that they are not sure he can understand them.
When he tries to talk it is gibberish, nothing that makes sense. He is constantly trying to get out of bed and falling on the floor.
They are now saying that he appears to need full time care. His family is on their way down here to arrange for him to go closer to where they live.
Please keep him in your prayers. He has always been a nice, thoughtful person who would give you the shirt off his back.

@celticeagle it really is sad. He was so active, now he can't do anything for himself.

@HazySue ...That is sad. I remember watching my mom go from a active older woman to an invalid. Rectal cancer took her.

Our prayers for your friend, i think it's downright frustrating when you just suddenly lose ability to communicate and move, my prayers also goes to he's family, may the good Lord ease the burden of whatever it is they are experiencing right now.

@HazySue me too, it keeps going over my head, perhaps they could explain to him what happened later while he is undergoing rehab and PT. I think his actions are more of a panic attack coz he cannot understand why suddenly he has no control of his own body and speech and desperately trying to figure out how.

@louievill maybe. They seem to think that he may have lost his ability to speak for good. I hope not.

This is so sad. It sounds so similar to an old family friend. After he had a stroke he could only talk gibberish too but would try so hard, sounding out what he obviously thought were words really slowly and carefully. It was awful for everyone concerned.
