I confirmed to my Mum that I am now definitely on course for finally flying the nest and moving to Preston. I expected anger and tears but she handled it well, and enjoyed looking at the photos I have of the flat I’m moving too in about three weeks.
She offered to let me take her computer desk, which she no longer uses. I’m glad of that as my own computer desk is falling apart now.
Freecycle came up with some stuff for me too, a heap of packing boxes from someone who recently moved house, which I’m collecting on Saturday and someone nearer to home has a cutlery set I’m picking up tomorrow.
I checked with welfare about changing address which seems straight-forward and they may be able to help with the cost of a van for the move too.
I went to get some money from the ATM to pay some routine monthly bills only to find the ATM out of action so I had a long walk to another machine before I could do anything.
My mum and sister took the cat for a routine check-up at the vet while I was out and forgot to lock all the back doors and windows. Luckily I got back soon after they left. While my mum could be forgiven for such an oversight, it was odd for my sister not to notice either.
Realized I’ll really miss the cat when I move house.
I sorted through lots of my books, packing some and getting others ready for giving to charity shops or friends.

I am sorting things out for giving away to friends, charity shops and in some cases just throwing them out - a lot still to go though @JudyEv

@arthurchappell It can be a bit of a surprise just how much you have accumulated over the years.

@crossbones27 it is quite an adventure and though sad to be moving -having more free space than ever really appeals and friends are being really considerate

luckily for me when I moved I had next to no possessions so everything owned fit into my car.
Even living on my own I've managed to keep possessions down to the bare minimum and this place already had a fridge, cooker and washing machine so I didn't have to buy them.
I gave away my whole book collection as they nearly filled half the garage at my last place and this is a studio so there is no room for anything.

@Mike197602 I can be quite frugal but my books are often my best friends
