CPAP machines don't count as carry-ons

I learned something new tonight while trying to finalize my packing. I was all proud of myself when my husband came home and I was all packed. Problem was that I packed my regular bag and he wanted us to just carry-on luggage. I couldn't do that with my clothes, purse, CPAP machine, and laptop.
Then something niggled in my brain and I did a little net research. As I remembered, CPAP machines are considered medical equipment and, when carried in their own cases, do not count as carry-ons.
This gave me the space in the carry on luggage for just my clothes and toiletries and in my personal item for just my purse and laptop. It all worked out and I learned something new that I hope also helps others out there with CPAP machines.
