As promised yesterday the couple offering lots of free packing boxes on Freecycle delivered them directly to my house this morning. They arrived nearly an hour early about 9am, but I was up and ready anyway.
I started packing quickly, initially from my shed but heavy rain – the first in days, spoilt the fun there and I put the packing materials away or I would have had a heap of mush.
I took a few smaller boxes in the house to pack things in my room, until I ran out of tape strong enough to hold the cardboard boxes together. I learned a lot. 1/. Stuff moved from storage to big boxes takes up a lot more room. 2/. It I impossible to prepare for house moving and not create clutter and mess. 3/. It takes a lot more time, energy and resources than expected.
My mum kindly gave me a new duvet plus a few other items towards my move. I did some online job hunting too.

I hate moving with a passion. I hope it goes smoothly for you. Getting packing boxes on freecycle is a great start.

that is already happening - all the boxes of rubbish I have set out for disposal make our back garden look like the city dump

Now you know...imagine my pa keeps house filled with thing...this morning my little princess (she is just 2 years old so she is as yet a royalty) threw whatever was on center table down...ah...there were some angry looks from an 83 year old man towards 2 year old girl, and my heart just moved up the gullet...but somehow, the little one just gave her impish smile and all was cool. I tell dad important things will be lost if you do this...he does not listen.

Get rid of as much as you can, I did and now all my worldly possessions easily fit into my car.

It's exciting when it all starts coming together and being more 'real'. Of course, packing is easy. It's the unpacking which always gets to me!
