Kalimera, Kalimera!
Good morning and a wonderful Greek Friday is wished for you.
Kalimera Katerina!
Blue and white have many interpretations, symbolizing the colours of the famed Greek sky and sea, combined with the white clouds and waves - blue being depicted as "Azure" taken from the ancient word describing the slab of lapis lazuli, the mineral from which azure took its name.
The BLUE seen in Greece along the hilltops and the doors, gates, and pathways is considered Periwinkle Blue and every time I look at the Periwinkle flowers in my garden, I am taken back to a Greek BLUE place in my memories.
By association one can stir up memories just about any place and any time - that is the magic of the mind.
Vincent Van Gogh described to his brother Theo how he composed a sky: "The dark blue sky is spotted with clouds of an even darker blue than the fundamental blue of intense cobalt, and others of a lighter blue, like the bluish white of the Milky Way ... the sea was very dark ultramarine, the shore a sort of violet and of light red as I see it, and on the dunes, a few bushes of prussian blue."
Blue -
"the colour between violet and green on the optical spectrum of visible light. Human eyes perceive blue when observing light with a wavelength between 450 and 495 nanometres."
Wishing you all a fantastic laid back, wonderful Friday - be blessed.
My photo is of the Cathedral of Mykonos in the little town of Ano Mera

I love the description Vincent Van Gogh gave his brother of the color of the sky. So many blue dimensions in one description does give a complete picture. I also loved your slide show. I found the three birds very interesting as they look like they are trilling a welcome to the morning.

What a beautiful contrast with that blue sky and white walls.

that reminds me of a video I saw recently that helps common colorblind people see certain colors.

what a beautiful pic :) i'm an adorin' fan'f the blues that dance 'cross the skies, sometimes minglin' with white fluffy clouds, other times dark 'n somewhat scary lookin' ones. always'n awe when lookin' to the heavens 'n buildin's/trees that seem to jest 'pop' due to the diff'rent hues.

Blue (azure) is a popular color also in Portugal, especially for their painted blue and white ceramic tiles, that are called azulejos. Even if azulejos seems dervided by "azure", anyway this is not the case, because the term comes from the Arabic 'az-zulayj', that means polished stone.

The description of the sky to his brother is very excellent and your post is nice to read. The blue always denotes the planet Saturn in Hindu Mythology. Saturn is the planet that gives bad results as many people think. But, it is not. It also gives immense wealth which can be measured for generation. I got a blue stone ring. I wore it as advised by many. Now, while leaving me he should give immense wealth .
I hope and am confident he would make me wealthy.
