Who still goes to public libraries?

Reading is one of my favorite hobbies, but it's not always possible to buy a book as they are sometimes too expensive. Afterwards, once I finish to read it, I get another problem: where should I save it? The space I've got at home is small, so I don't know where to put all the books I would like to have at home. Sometimes, I try to sell some of my books for a reduced rate, but not always other persons wants to read the same ones I've read. Interests are just different. So, sometimes I still visit the public library where I can borrow some books for free. I am wondering if someone else still uses the public libraries!?

I like real books. too. I could not fall asleep on some device. I like the feel of the book in my hand, I like to turn the pages. I would like a Kindle to download free or low price books, but I prefer real books. Call me an old fogey. I'll answer.

@infatuatedbby How do you do when you want to read a book? Do you buy all the books you wish?

If you go again, you might wonder how they may have changed.

We go all the time - but mostly for the kids. Besides books, they have various shows/programs/classes there for free. Some libraries have a used book store, so we sometimes shop in there.

@Meramar Our kids are bookworms too . . . we feel fortunate we can take advantage of libraries. I hope libraries will always be around (I hate e-books!)

@much2say In a world full of distractions and technologies, it's difficult to convince children to read books instead. You really can feel fortunate.

That's great. It's important that our children knows the value of a library.

We went the other day. We needed to print something from online and do not have a printer that works. I give books away, donate them to the thrift store, or mail them to friends.

Libraries are still very helpfull nowadays. Sometimes, I exchange my books with friends, so both get an unread book.

@Meramar A book that is not being read is a big block of print. You must open it to start your new adventure.

@akalinus There are plenty of adventures, written or not yet, which are awaiting to be discovered by someone.

Sad but kids nowadays, except for a few perhaps, have never been to a library.

I especially love it because since I home school my kids during the school year to break up our routine and the rut we sometime get into. We will go to the library and study some of the people that work there have gotten to know us quit well, lol. This one lady thinks it's pretty cool how we things she's always ask the kids what we are working today, lol.

That's great. In Spain, it's still unusual to home school the kids.

During monday morning and saturday afternoon hubby always go to the city library to read books, he loves to read while i love to cook while waiting for him. There are time I told him that I just buy or download him a book instead of staying in the library but he refuse, he loves the smell of the library and it makes him relax, and its free.

Our public library is commonly used by students who want to study together but aren't allowed to bring their classmates at home. It's also a quiet place and it enhances the concentration. I used to go there mainly for the internet access until I could get my own connection at home, and it's also nice because you can print what you want for a cheap price. I also borrowed a few books but didn't manage to read them, I didn't have the time or they were too boring and I can only borrow for a month. Same with CDs or DVDs. I think I also took a pair of those too. Now there's a kind of book I'd like to read but I haven't been there for years and I lost my card as well. We also have a second-hand bookstore here, they don't buy all books and they buy for a really low price, but it's a good way to get rid of books you've read.

I visit my local library between two and four times a month. I not only check out books but also movie DVDs and I often buy books when they have a book sale. I simply cannot imagine not having a library to go to.

I still enjoy borrowing books from the library and I agree that it's easy to return the book rather than have to worry about keep it or if you can sell it

We go to the library once a week and load up on books. We also have our own "library" at home. I just told hubby the other day that we need an extra shelf on the wall for books. He just looked at me. Do you have room to put up shelves on your walls? My mom put one up, all the way around my room near the ceiling, when I was a teen. It was great for holding books and knick-knacks.

A library seems to be a place of another century. Every time I go in, I feel like in the Middle Ages.

I LOVE the library. I love the smell of all the books and searching through the aisles is so fun :) Sadly, our town library shut down...probably because not many people went there.

Many people haven't got enough time to go into a library and search for a great book. They rather prefer to go through internet.

Many persons like you might not have time to get there and to search inbetween the pages of a great book. The most important aspect is to go on reading some.

I regularly attend public lñibraries here in my region. Some have more books than others; however, I attend them more for the internet facility they provide.

That's right, nowadays they mostly survive thanks to their combination of library and the technologies they offer for public use.

Even movies and music on cd's. Libraries have to grow to stand by with the modern technologies, otherwise they get converted into museums.
