Oh Good, Visit From my Sister!

My sister and I have been very close all our lives. She's two years older, so of course sometimes I got mad at her for bossing me around, lol. But mainly we've always been each other's best friends. She lives four, four and a half, hours away in Cupertino. I really miss her sometimes. She manages to get up here every couple months to visit us. She always brings one of her daughters to keep her company and trade off driving. She and her younger daughter (they're all grownup) plus daughter's hubby are all coming up next weekend. The only thing is I wish she and I had more one on one time. She has a daycare and keeps very busy all the time, so I wish we could just take a trip together every year. But she has her two week vacation and that's it, and of course that is spent with her husband. How about you, do you have siblings? Do you get along with your siblings? Do tell about your brothers and sisters.

My family all live a fair distance away, so I only get to see them every now and again. I am coming to suspect that I like that and just keep in touch with the phone

Yes, sometimes maybe absence makes the heart grow fonder.

That will be nice to see your sister. I have two sisters and we get together at least once a year. This weekend I'm hosting and they are both coming with their families, so I will be super busy. There will be 22 of us here, with 5 of them staying over, so you can imagine how busy I will be. Lot's of preparation for me, but it will be worth it.

I have a sister who is 14 months older then me. We hated each other as kids. It wasn't until we were in our late teens that we got along.

I had one sister who was 14 years older than me. For whatever reason, she never seemed to like me much, so we didn't get along well. She passed away in 1999 from colon cancer. I always wished I'd had a sibling with whom I could have been close. I've always missed that.

I'm sorry your sister is gone. She probably didn't really not like you, it was probably just the age gap that made her feel not so close

@CinnamonGrl I tried many times to bridge the gap between us. Nothing ever worked. She was an angry woman and she blamed my birth on a lot of her problems. Nothing I could do about it and I've learned to live with it.

I have 3 siblings. Yes, except that I don't like how two of my siblings spend their money. They are not wise spenders.

If it affects you, that makes sense. It wouldn't matter much how my sister spends money since it has nothing to do with me lol. Athough she's smart, sometimes her husband isn't. But that isn't my problem.

We took one years ago but her husband resented it. It's weird, he's jealous of her family.

Do you see each other very often?

No siblings but I do wish I could see more of some of my children and grandchildren. I have one daughter and her husband & kids live with me, another daughter that is only 5 min away with her family but my other two children and their families live more than an hour away so I don't get to see them as often as I'd like. We also have time conflicts with work and school for the grandchildren. I'm sure you'll have a great time with your sister. I always wished I had a sister but now I have 3 adult daughters who are like sisters

There are pros and cons to every situation. Sometimes I feel like my daughter is more like a sister too, especially now as an adult.

I have a brother, But we cannot be together for too long, as our attitudes toward the world differ too Much. Politically, we mostly agree (both Liberals), but he's more depressed than I am. Me: That waitress was really nice! Him: She hated us. She just wanted a big tip. I can only take so much of that. I get along better with my older step-siblings.

I don't blame you, I wouldn't appreciate that kind of negativity either. My sis and I are both liberal, I would say she is the more positive one, but I get down about situations, not my general attitude toward life.

That's good you had a lovely time with your sister and neice. I have a sister who is 3 years younger than me. She's married too with a son(7yrs) and daughter (4yrs). They live near us so we often see each other.

I am an only child - sometimes I think it would be interesting to have a sibling but mostly I am happy I don't have to share my mom! LoL.

It is a shame you're not able to spend more time with your sister. But at least you do get to see her from time to time.

I have siblings, but we have never been close. Not because I did not want to... I usually don't talk about it.
