When you don't need those helps, you don't really care. But when it hits home, or you're in it, that's different. You wish that others would care more or pitch in to help. I would have been one of those that is not really paying attention to how many are in need of food in my area. I would have probably help to give some food in the grocery store where there is a bin for food bank to give a can or two . But the thing is I am in it now, and I see, and I care, when you live in a small town and your told there a hundred people that comes TWICE a month to get helps. They barely have supplies to cover everybody and More to come...... Food bank is like a little oasis in the middle of a dessert. But when the little oasis is dried up what do you do???? My answer is pitch in... it is rewarding. Pixabay picture

Our little town is too small for a food bank. Our garden donates produce to those in need, and to the food bank the next town over. I drive quite a ways to do any shopping, but donate there. I know many large grocers freeze their close dated meat and they donate that to foodbanks where it is kept frozen to keep it usable.

It is good that you can help the same, even if it is not in your little town, but the people of your town are going for the Food Bank on the next town I guess.

Our closest tiny village doesn\t have one either; the closest is 50 km away. Bu that is where we shop for groceries. At the post office lobby in our tiny village people put their excess garden produce..

We have had to go to food banks before when we were having hard times. We were so grateful it was there so we could get the help we needed.

That 's good. Because every food bank in Canada I don't know about the States, but is in need more than ever to have food donated.

They have a bin for the food pantry at my grocery store and it is almost always empty. I never think to buy anything for it.
