My verse is going to be on air

I belong to a writers' group in Donnybrook but haven't been for a while. One of the members is mad-keen about a local radio station that has started up in the town. A while ago some of us recorded some short stories with the idea that one day they would be broadcast on the station. A day or two ago, I was contacted for permission for two of my poems to be broadcast. Someone else will read them.
I hesitate to call them poems as they are 'bush poetry' – more doggerel than serious poetry. From what I can find out it seems bush poetry is perhaps unique to Australia. Wikipedia defines bush poetry as ballads/poems/verse 'depicting the life, scenery and character of the Australian bush' which probably explains why it might not be found elsewhere. Mostly it is humorous.
Early October both Vin and I are going to perform a 'poem' each at a bush poetry day. That should be interesting! So I'm wondering if other countries have their own versions of 'bush poetry'.

Congratulations, Ms. Judy! Not everyone gets to have the chance to have their work read on air.

Other than maybe beat poetry, I can't think of anything.

@JudyEv well share the bush poem? So I have a yardstick for comparison, lol, maybe it's closer to cowboy poetry for me

@Jessicalynnt If there is cowboy poetry then I'm sure that's similar. Bush poetry is all about the outback or country rather than towns and suburbia. I might post one here but it might be a bit long. They always tell a 'story' so it's hard to make them short.

I could have read it myself I think if I'd wanted to. I'm just as happy for someone else to do it.

That sounds like fun in both cases, a great honor as well. I don't really think we have anything to compare.

I hope you get a video of you two performing in October.
Well done for getting two of your poems on the radio - exciting stuff.
My excuse for missing these two posts is that I had a houseful at the weekend and was really busy. I had 23 people here and did all the catering myself, plus 5 of them stayed for a couple of nights. Will that do as a note for the teacher??

That is a lot to cater for so you're completely forgiven - not that you ever had to explain your absence.
We catered for 16 for my birthday dinner and that was bad enough - and I think we had 10 for breakfast but several had their motor-homes. I'm sure you would have had a great time.

I might have to sit in the car and listen as I don't think we can pick up the station here.
