Family Dinner... Finally!

Yes! The whole family sat down for dinner tonight. I told my older daughter that I was making a dinner tonight and not to fall asleep. I made it a little earlier hoping to have it ready before she fell asleep. She did fall asleep but I stood at her door until she finally yanked herself out of bed.
Dinner was over as quickly as it started. There wasn't a whole lot of conversation but I did ask how the girls' days were and told them how happy I was to have the family sitting down together for dinner. The elder who wasn't awake enough to speak, eventually came out of it and answered questions about her day.
And all three (hubby and two daughters) had left overs for their lunches tomorrow.
Mission accomplished.

Very much so. My husband will be working Tuesday through Friday days this week (7am-7pm) and then leaves on Saturday to return to his home town for the annual festival. The following weekend my younger daughter leaves for university. So this was really the last chance we had.

@JudyEv Maybe not. It stars Donnie Wahlburg and Tom Selleck about an Irish Catholic family of cops - 3 generations. Near the end of every show (but sometimes earlier if necessary for conversation within the family for the story line) they all get together for Sunday dinner. Grandfather, father, 3 grown children (one a cop, one a detective and one a lawyer), and their 3 children. This show always makes me cry even though it's kind of your typical cop show, there are a lot of touching family moments.

It's so rare anymore for us to all eat a meal together here, and it is sad. So much of it I blame on myself because I think I don't have the time to go in and cook a meal. Other blame on my daughter who conveniently disappears at meal time so we are left to feed her children.

I don't make a full meal very often... maybe once a week now. It usually depends on my husband's schedule and whether I feel in the mood to have a meal ready for him when he gets home. When he goes away next week I'll probably hibernate in my bedroom.

It is nice to have a famly dinner together, especially when everyone in the family is so busy with their own business and do not have time to be tother. This summer vacation my family got together and had a few nice dinners together. We enjoy it.
