high in the sky

I was awoken this morning by the sound of Husband stomping around, getting ready for work. Once the door was closed behind him, I lay on the bed listening to the morning birdsong outside. It settled my soul.
Of course, I had to get up at some point {mostly because my bladder required me to be elsewhere} and a quick glance through the window on my way past had me spying a delightful sight.
Balloons!
Or, to be more precise, hot air balloons!
They were meandering along, flying high, tiny little people in tiny little baskets, carried by big - but tiny - balloons filled with hot air. A whole flock of them in all the colours of the rainbow, looking beautiful against the blue backdrop of a summer's day sky.
A gorgeous start to my day.
*smile*

@Poppylicious It is incredible how you can take the habit to see a beautiful scene. It was the same when I opened the windows and I saw the Mediterranean. I still do not know if I prefer the sea or the mountains.

Oh, that sounds like a beautiful scene. How wonderful that such a sight is part of your ordinary day. :)

@poppylicious Those pesky bladders don't half intrude upon moments of peace, reflection and even romance.

I know! And it gets worse as I get older! No wonder I keep getting emails asking if I want a trial sample of Tena Lady!

@Poppylicious My 30 year old son got a letter today from his doctor inviting him to come in for a smear test. I dared him to go. Don't know why I'm telling you this.

@xFiacre I'm a good listener, that's why. *grin* ... But, Yikes! Is there something he's not telling you?!

I like to think that the people in them are looking at my house and marvelling at how tiny it is, just as I'm marvelling at how tiny they are!

I'm not sure. I used to be fine with heights. Then I had a bad experience and now I'm not fine with heights. I would love to go in a hot air balloon, but I'm not convinced my head would enjoy it.

We have hot air balloons flying overhead occasionally and they look so pretty against a blue sky. Sounds like a great way to start the day. I never had any desire to fly in one of those balloons do you?

I would like to say yes, but I do suffer from vertigo, so the answer is probably no!

There must have been a hot air balloon event in your area.

No, I live near a paragliding centre which also does hot air balloon experiences a few times a year. I see them sometimes, always in the early morning, catching the sunrise. :)

Where do you live? I don't remember ever seeing hot air balloons around here. So many tall trees. I'd love to see them, they're so pretty.

I'm in the Flatlands of England. They can probably see for ever once up there because there's no hills or tall trees or mountains or very tall buildings to block the view.

What's the reason for the tradition? We have a local centre which they fly from, which is the reason I sometimes see them.

I wonder what it is about hot air balloons that we all seem to like. Maybe they bring a sense of calm and tranquillity to our lives as they float on high.
