Diary Saturday 27th August 2016 A day mostly spent online, with some shopping, and a little pub exploration, though I only had beer in one, a nice real ale bar called The Anderton Arms, recommended by the annually updated main real ale good beer guides. I had my camera round my neck and its case is decorated in some of my many badges, which impressed the landlady. As I left, she gave me a badge to add to my collection – a badge intended for bar staff declaring their right to see proof of age if they expect a drinker may be under age. It now has pride of place among my other badges. The night, or possibly the early hours of the morning involved a domestic row between a couple in one of the other flats on my floor getting out of hand. The man in his late fifties decided to throw his drug-addict girlfriend out – she declined to leave and the police were brought in by another tenant to take her away. I looked out briefly just to check the young lady I spoke to last night was safe – she was watching at all as astonished and bewildered as I was. At one point, one of six police officers in the narrow corridor mistook a role of kitchen film the male protagonist held for a knife until a colleague corrected him on what looked so obviously un-knife like, though why the man was brandishing a role of cardboard and cling film is unclear. It’s lucky tazers and handcuffs were not employed at that point. The cops were also confused by the corridor timer switches that plunge the corridor into darkness after about a minute. Myself and my friend explained that to them, and then we retired to our rooms. The last I heard, the girl was escorted off the premises and all keys to it were taken off her. She can’t get back in now unless her boyfriend lets her in. Just where she will go at 1.30 am is a mystery to me. Hopefully the police will find somewhere for her to go until she gets something organized. Diary – Sunday 28th August 2016 I was tired after the high drama in the night and the thunderstorms that also went on, but I had to be up early to get things ready for my friends coming from Manchester to help build book cases. It was hard work as each of the four free standing units was very heavy but the three of us managed it, and I spent much of the night adding books to it and lining my DVD’s along the top. I still have six boxes of goods to unpack and find homes for but the flat now looks great and for the first time my books get a full airing and display rather than being stashed away out of sight in boxes, cases and sheds. Please can I come and sort out your books? They're not doing my OCD any good!

@Poppylicious they will gradually get put into some sort of order but for now getting them out of the heap of boxes, suitcases and stacks on the floor is a major step in the right direction

By the looks of the books in your picture, you have some books and authors that I have too. Although if that's a copy of The Hobbit I see, mine is a really tatty older version with some early Smaug attacking Laketown artwork by Tolkien on the front.

Sorry to hear of the late night/early morning goings ons. I'm so glad that my area here is usually nice and quiet. The weekends we get an occasional rowdy over across the side street here at the Taco Bell parking lot. That bookcase is nice. I used to carry all my books around when I moved. Had so many it got mighty old fast. Heavy!

it's generally calm here by all accounts - that's why this lady was dealt with quite quickly

My favourite part of moving is setting up my bookcases. I just love stacking them back on the shelves. It's like Christmas all over again especially if they've been packed for a while. They look great here.

@JudyEv it has been a joy to put them out - at my old home everything was out of sight and out of mind - with my mum, anything not hers was just clutter - now my life feels much more out in the open and free to breathe for the first time ever

@arthurchappell I am so pleased this is working out for you. You were really in a toxic situation before, particularly once your sister moved in.
