Online Shopping VS Store Shopping

I was talking with one of my neighbors this weekend about all the traffic on the roads and every store my husband and I passed had a lot of cars in the parking lot. Which do you prefer shopping in a store or online? Does it depend on the kind of store or what your looking for now? I do shop online more in the last few years, then years ago when it was easier to travel to stores and get in and out quickly.
I even buy some food online for gifts, as it can be cheaper to have a company ship to love ones, then me finding a box and shipping myself. If anyone knows of stores that sell Panda Candy, then let me know, as my local Ralph's no longer sells it.

Amazon does sell the candy for more than the grocery store sold it. It was a huge shock to see the price and am trying to find other sites now. Thanks for the reply and yes there are a lot of products available online.

My daughter and I went to a major mall on Sunday. It was busy. Partially because it was one week before school starts, and I think partially because it was so hot people thought the mall was a place to get cool. I would like to buy online but I don't like to pay shipping charges. Plus I don't know exactly what I'm getting without looking at it, touching it, trying it on. I think the only thing that is a sure thing is buying books on Amazon. I can get free shipping with a minimum order and books don't need to be touched or tried on before purchasing. Unless there is an item that I need or want that I can't find anywhere else except online (like the darned pool filter), I prefer to shop in stores.

@Fishmomma I have regretted buying a few things online as they didn't look the same as the picture... like the colour of the purse I purchased recently. As for the pool filter, it was not available in Canada at all and $11 worth of long distance phone calls resulted in no dealership wanting to ship to Canada from the U.S. I bought it from ebay. The other thing that bugs me is these .ca websites (Americaneagle.ca and justfab.ca and others) they prices are actually American dollars being shipped from the U.S. and I have to pay an exchange rate on top of that. Total rip-off in my opinion. Why have a Canadian website but still charge American?

@patgalca I think that is terrible and $11 phone bill with bad results would have made me really angry. The exchange rate would certainly make me think twice before buying, as I don't like to return anything from online purchases. Some sites even charge a restocking fee, so I would be even more upset.

I agree about the shipping charges, as what might sound like a great deal isn't when you realize there are many places you have to pay them. Amazon has many places that you pay the charge, so its important to consider who will be paying and how easy it is to return products.
My daughter buys her textbooks online, as she usually can find a better deal. The biggest exception is when the textbook was written by the teacher, as that means buying from the school.
Clothes are one item that is a good idea to try it on before buying, as female sizes sure aren't the same from different companies. I know that what looks great on the web site might make me look really heavy or older than I am now and that would be bad. There is nothing worse then somebody asking where you bought it and clearly they want to avoid that company.
Sorry about the pool filter and I know that is one place I have a challenge for parts. The pool parts are so expensive that you really hope everything doesn't need to be replaced anytime soon. Our pool isn't used much and I always thought we would use it a lot when we moved into the house. I didn't know how much work it is to keep the pool looking good. Thanks for posting.

Almost the only shopping I do outside is to the thrift and dollar stores. My friend and I love those stores! I order most things online, usually from Amazon.

I do shop on Amazon where there are great deals and certainly makes my gift giving a lot easier. My challenge is when a product is to high and I can't find it easily elsewhere. The candy I'm hunting for isn't a brand in the United States and am hoping one of the organic stores carries it. Sadly, its the only candy that has few ingredients that I can eat without any side affects. I realize candy isn't something I really need, so maybe having it less often. Thanks for the reply.

Wow, I think that is amazing, as there are certain food items like eggs I would never buy online. I use to live on a farm, so had lots of eggs now I visit the grocery store for them. I might start bartering for them soon, as trading lemons for other products saves me money.
