Lack of rain means time to sell the boat

Wehave a small Jon Boat that my husband used for paddling around in the pond. Well, the boat has come to the end of its life with us. Since we have had very little rain since early spring, and we are down about thirteen inches of rain for the year, it has taken a toll of lots of things. One of them is our pond. It is spring fed, there are two springs feeding it actually. The water coming down the mountain is at a trickle and the pond had dropped by 5 or 6 feet at this point. The boat is no longer needed and the decision was made to sell it. It comes with a very well-built and home-made trailer which is actually big enough to tow a much larger boat. We don't have a motor, just oars, but a motor can be added if someone wants to take it out on the lake. This morning's job for my husband is to give the boat a good bath and we'll put a 4-sale sign on and stick it out by the road and see what happens. This type of boat sells very well around here. Photo is mine taken the day we put it in the pond.

I wish that Britain would suffer a lack of rain occasion.

We had lots of rain this past Winter, but none this Summer. That means really tall dry grass everywhere. Wildfire season cometh.

This is a great boat, I am sure you will sell it in no time. After the torrential rains of mid August we are experiencing hot days and no rain. Until it lasts!

@AbbyGreenhill It seems that we are going to have a lot of rain in October and November. November is usually a rainy month, so nothing unusual.

Last Oct we had torrential rains and I'm hoping we have the same thing this year - before fire season starts.

Thanks, it will sure give my husband more room in his workshop since that's where the trailer has been parked for two years.

It's a shame you have to sell the boat but many things eventually reach the end of their useful life - at least with one family. I'm sure such a sturdy-looking boat won't take long to sell.

Since we are only a few miles to the Tennessee River and the lakes and several rivers, people are into all kinds and sizes of boats around here.

It's a good looking boat. We are having a severe drought here in Massachusetts. Good luck *be well*

Thank you. We have a very very slight chance of a shower at the end of the week...it will help the grass a little but not the pond.

The boat is long gone a year ago. The pond will never be the same.
