When It Rains, It Pours!

When it rains, it pours...literally! But, since this is Florida, and it's still technically "summer" here, we expect the daily rain showers. But mix in a little Hurricane named Hermine, and you've got a doozy of a recipe for crazy weather!
We dealt with the rains from Hurricane Hermine Thursday afternoon, and most of the day Friday. On Saturday, the weather started off bad, but looked promising by midday. So I thought for sure we'd have some great weather for the home opener football game of the Florida Gators on Saturday night. Boy was I wrong (and so were the meteorologists)! From the moment we entered the stadium, the skies opened up and the gods unleashed their fury. And of course, it's the one game I give up my tickets in the luxury boxes for guests of mine and choose to sit out in the bleacher seats. Big mistake!
After a good soaking on Saturday night and many blessings for not catching pneumonia Sunday morning, my son and I took off to the Santa Fe River for a day of kayaking. The weather report said it would be beautiful. Mother Nature thought differently! Less than on hour into our kayaking adventure, the torrential thunderstorms and downpours hit us. Every been kayaking through a monsoon? Neither have I until today!
So tomorrow, for Labor Day, I plan to do absolutely nothing! They say the weather will be gorgeous, but I'm not taking any chances. These weather clowns seem to be more wrong than right these days!
Has your day ever been ruined by rain that you didn't expect?
{and by the way, if any of you myLotters are meteorologists, I wasn't referring to you in my statement above...I was referring to those other clowns!}

When the rain pours here, it's a joke
It'd rain for a spilt second only, lol!

I wish that would have been how it was for me today on the river! It stormed for hours! And there wasn't no hiding from it either out on the river in the kayaks!

They said it was supposed to be sunny and beautiful today, and it's pouring down rain outside right now. Thank goodness I didn't make any plans today!

@LadyDuck Is this the time of year when it starts to get cold where you live Anna? For some reason (I blame Hollywood movies), I always think of your corner of the world as being cold and snowy all year long! lol

Oh yes! They wouldn't ever cancel a game unless there was lighting!

@jaboUK I think they were so excited for the start of the first game of the season that they didn't mind the weather, other than it being a minor annoyance. And we won the game, so that made it that much more bearable!

We have our own weather clowns here and they are not much better. Sorry the kayaking was ruined by the storms.

Our kayaking adventure wasn't actually ruined by the storms! It made it more memorable and fun! I always make the best of every situation, as I know this is something my son and I will look back on years from now and laugh about!

We did get a little bit of rain from the hurricane. But my mother got most of the flooding since she lives near the coast.

The poor people of New York and New Jersey are dealing with that storm now. It's like a bad dream that won't go away! lol

That's the way it is with weather. When they say it's going to be sunny, odds are it's going to be raining.

I've all but given up on paying attention to the weather forecasts, since they can never get it right. Most of the time, I can just peak my head out the door in the morning and know exactly how the day's weather is going to be!

I see you are improving in your public relationship skills junior...often...my plans go bad...and I get frustrated flustered annoyed, sulk ...but rains give two hoots to my feelings. I have stopped expecting consideration from them. My red parasol was victimized the last time when it tried to protect me.

The mower guy is here before the skies open up again this afternoon @moffitjc . The grass is so tall (up to my butt), that he said he'll have to come back again to cut it lower. Plus, he has to figure out how to maneuver around all the pits that the wild hogs dug. Now if only I had the strength to rake it all up, the donkeys would have the equivalent of 2 full bales of hay.

Why is it so hard for them to get the weather forecast right? All those years of college, and all those computers and satellites, and all that technology, and they still can't figure it out?

Did the football game still go ahead?
